WINNER OF THE franksolich FOR 2014
What's for Dinner, Wed., June 24, 2015
I'm starting the thread a little early, since I'll be at a union lunch that will go on for the afternoon. It's an executive board working lunch, but finally the "protests" to our union prez have paid off. He loves that bagely-sweet roll-bready stuff. The rest of us insisted he change and bring healthy food, so I think we're getting a Whole Foods catered lunch today.
I liked livetohike's idea of a curried kidney bean dish last night, so I made it and was it ever good! This will be a keeper, for sure. I used a recipe off a blog, once I got to the spot where I realized I needed a sauce to put over the beans I pressured cooked. Here's the blog recipe I followed, and I learned this is an Indian dish called "rasedar rajma:"

Vive la livetohike! She has the best ideas for vegetarian menus!
Yeah, she did step right into it, if one's watching the news about Whole Foods.
And judging from the primitive responses, including Judy grasswire, apparently none of the other primitives have been paying attention to the news either.

Curried kidney beans with some weird Indian sauce (In addition, one supposes, to the actual curry), and apparently pressure-cooked into submission by NJCher, the Slobodan Milosevic of chicken atrocities.
I shudder at the thought.

Not a single primitive comments about WF's little problem.

Not a single primitive comments about WF's little problem.
Nope, not a one in the cooking and baking forum.
And there's a couple of threads about it in General Discussion, so the cooking and baking primitives couldn't've possibly missed it. I suspect they're refraining from mentioning it out of fear of Ms. Vanderbilt-Astor and her union goon husband.

I like northern Indian curries. They aren't all vegetarian, just no beef or pork. I like dal, also, a spicy lentil soup (no meat). The idea of a kidney bean curry doesn't appeal to me for some reason.
I've been a bit out of touch the last couple of days - some family medical stuff. What's up with Whole Paycheck? I'm sure DUlurkers will appreciate being informed by a Reader's Digest summary of what's happening with one of their favorite big corporations (other probable examples: Ben & Jerry's, Progressive Insurance, Apple Computers).
