Star Member Atman (28,684 posts)
So how the hell are we supposed to know?
"Church members at Emanuel AME were gathered for a prayer meeting when gunfire erupted in the 19th century building. A female survivor told family members that the gunman initially sat down in the church for a while before standing up and opening fire, according to Dot Scott, president of the Charleston NAACP.
The gunman reportedly told the woman that he was letting her live so she could tell everyone else what happened, Scott said.
Mullen confirmed that the shooter was in the church for almost an hour attending the prayer meeting with the group before shooting."
Open carry? Concealed carry? Say he had been open carry. Are we supposed to just sit there for an hour just because we're in church, and he has the "right" to carry? This would scare the piss out of me, and it apparently it SHOULD. Just like any of those guys walking the aisles of Target or Walmart with their weapons slung over their shoulders could be there with nefarious intentions, or just plain read to snap. As for the concealed carry people, so what? Roof apparently kept his intentions and his weapon concealed before standing up and opening fire. How would one have been able to remove a safely secured and holstered weapon in time to stop him, without sending even more bullets flying in a crowded room full of panicked people?
I'm not sure what my exact point is other than to try to help people understand why so many of us are opposed to open carry or sometimes even concealed carry. You say it is your right. I say it is my right to be reasonably safe in a public place, and some clown carrying a rifle over his shoulder in a department store does NOT make anyone feel safe except the guy showing off his firestick.

Poor, timid, shivering DUmmy.

Like he'd ever go to church for a prayer meeting.

What a confusing place a DUmbass "mind" is.
They wan`t to disarm the population and wan`t an all powerful government while detesting and fearing the military and law enforcement apparatus of that government.

When Atman expresses the same concern for Americans of African derivation walking down the streets of their neighborhoods in fear of being shot, I'll start taking him seriously on his concern about this.
Until then, Atman can shove it up his rectal aperture and smoke it.

Just in Chicago.
June to Date
Shot & Killed: 26
Shot & Wounded: 126
Total Shot: 152
But who cares, those are blacks killing blacks, and most of the murderers will never be caught.

And in DC in the past 30 days 58 assaults with a firearm. That's up from last year. Also 13 homicides. Also up from last year. China has hit us with a devastating cyber attack, ISIS is growing in strength, the head of OPM is laughably incompetent (did anyone else see her testify?) and the only reason we're not still talking about Bruce Jenner's genitalia or Rachel Dolezal's blackface is because of this horrible event.
So let's talk about guns. Let's not talk about religious freedoms, mental illness, systemic failures in leadership, a tone of racial division from the Obama administration, an uptick in crime, our declining position in world affairs, by all means, let's talk about guns.

"I'm not sure what my exact point is"
I don't think ANYONE is sure what your exact point with that explosion of verbal diarrhea, Idiotman.
Gotta love him trotting out the familiar old moronic argument that in the event of a mass shooting in which someone else has a CCW, that the shooter will be calm and methodic in how he attacks, yet the person with the CCW returning fire will automatically be some crazy fool wildly shooting left and right at anything that moves.
Also, how much you want to bet that the shooting would never have happened in the first place if there were indeed people with CCWs inside the church, and the nutcase shooter knew about it? Most mass shooters tend to avoid targets where there's a chance someone could return fire.
In December of 2007, atheist nutcase Matthew Murray went on a shooting rampage in a Colorado church, killing 4 people, yet his rampage was stopped before the body count could get any higher by a church security guard with a CCW returning fire. Afterwards, the DUmmies (In a typical display of their insane views on such matters) portrayed Murray as a brave and noble hero standing up for gay rights, portrayed the churchgoers he targeted as a bunch of evil fundies who all deserved to die, and portrayed the brave security guard who brought Murray's rampage to an end as a bloodthirsty lunatic.
"I say it is my right to be reasonably safe in a public place, and some clown carrying a rifle over his shoulder in a department store does NOT make anyone feel safe except the guy showing off his firestick."
1. That's not in the Constitution. The right to bear arms is.
2. The second half of the sentence is just an opinion. An opinion that is probably shared by quite a few people, I'll admit, but an opinion nonetheless.

Or a Christian/Jew/woman has in Iran etc.

Is it true he reloaded 5 times?
Now imagine if just one of those church-goers were allowed to legally carry a gun into that Church. I'd wager there would be a lot less dead.
It's weird that he was even able to go into Church with that gun. I thought gun-free zones created invisible force fields around schools/churches/etc.

According to Rachel Dolezal, if the shooter wanted to be black, he would be black.

There is no logic in their thinking. :mental:

That's why this was a dual strike--Blacks of religion. Both entities. And he did it in Charleston SC, where the faith life is strong. This is a 'minion of Satan' attack.

Most definitely. H5.
