Title: Donald Trump Is In!
Post by: libertybele on June 16, 2015, 03:28:40 PM
So...the Republican playing field grows even wider with a billionaire tycoon.  What is surprising to me is the Democrats see him as finally a serious contender amongst those running.  He has zero political experience, but he knows how to run a business (obviously).  I haven't done any research on him and only really know him for his really bad "comb over".

I'm questioning his intent.  Did he join because he probably can outspend Jeb or Hillary or did he throw his hat in the ring because he feels he'd make a great president.  I am not quite so convinced that someone with a reality TV show named "The Apprentice" is who I want in the oval office.

I guess I should be happy that we have someone under the Republican umbrella with a boatload of money that will challenge Bush?

Trump announces White House bid, joins crowded GOP field

New York real estate mogul and reality TV star Donald Trump on Tuesday declared himself a candidate for the Republican nomination for president, launching his against-the-odds campaign after teasing one for years.

“I am officially running for president of the United States,” he said from inside his signature Trump Tower in midtown Manhattan. “We are going to make our country great again.”

In a strong pro-business, pro-military speech, the unabashed Trump vowed to stop the Islamic State, keep Iran from building a nuclear weapon, repeal ObamaCare, build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, repeal President Obama’s executive orders on immigration and spend more on infrastructure.

“Nobody could be tougher on ISIS than Donald Trump,” he said in a roughly 45-minute speech, peppered with occasional, off-the-cuff remarks.

"I'm really rich," Trump said while waving a financial statement that showed his net worth at nearly $9 billion. “And that’s not bragging. That’s the kind of mindset you need.”

Though he faces an uphill challenge in trying to win the GOP nomination, the 69-year-old Trump adds an undeniable element of surprise to the race.

He joins the field of 11 other GOP candidates, with Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker expected to enter the race in mid-July and several other hopefuls still considering. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush announced his bid a day earlier.

And he could be an aggressive -- and interesting -- player on the primary debate stage, should he stay among the top-10 candidates in the polls.

On Tuesday, Trump unapologetically criticized candidates, politicians and others.

“Politicians are all talk and no action,” said the first-time candidate. “We have losers. We have people who are morally corrupt. We have people who are taking the country down the drain.”

Trump questioned Obama’s leadership, criticized Secretary of State John Kerry’s negotiating skills in trying to keep Iran from producing a nuclear weapon and Bush for supporting national education standards known as Common Core, which he called “a total disaster.”

He also blasted China for "killing us" in the world economy; ripped fellow Republican candidates for not talking enough about China; called alleged Army deserter Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl a "no-good traitor" and even plugged his golf courses.

"I have the best courses in the world," Trump said, in an aside offering to host Obama at one of them...

Yes, what is his true intent?
Is he going to become another Perot, or is this a serious effort?

He sure does like donating to Democrats.
He donated @ least $100,000 to the Clinton Foundation.
He has also donated to republicans, which included McCain, Delay, Gingrich, Rep. Allen, Rep. Peter King & others.

My favorite line in Trump's speech, & I'll paraphrase:  Politicians work for lobbyists & special interest.

That said, I'd vote for Trump over Huckabee, Santorum, Bush, Rubio, Cruz & Walker (the last 2 made my list because of their support for ObamaTrade).

Trump is a business tycoon.  He is in the elite circle for sure.  He steps on toes and associates himself with those that will help him get ahead.  Not so sure that is the qualifications of a decent president and I'm not so sure as to how knowledgeable hie is about the Constitution.  The logic that if he can run a business he can run a country just doesn't cut it for me.  We need someone who will lead this country and adhere to the Constitution not merely just throw his money around to make things happen as he sees fit.

Trump is a liberal capitalist.
I believe him when he says he will create jobs, but I doubt his resolve to defend the country.

He praised mooshell today. Thats a bad sign right there.

Well, his website has much to be desired.  It asks to join him and donate.  Shows a press release and a couple of news clips.  Doesn't really state where he stands on various issues but addresses his business accomplishments and that he has millions of followers on social media.

Sorry, but I just don't see "The Donald" as presidential material at all; no political experience and certainly no foreign policy experience other than making money.

Oh by the way, his Oprah comment tells me all I need to know about him:

"Oprah Winfrey would be a "great" running mate."

"I think Oprah would be great. I'd love to have Oprah," Trump told ABC's George Stephanopoulos. "I think we'd win easily, actually."...

Hey, I liked Oprah's talk show and thought she was somewhat entertaining and certainly was generous at times to her audience.  But would I want her and Donald running the country?  Hell no!!

Donald Trump is seriously putting the ic back in politics.  This election cycle has serious potential for crazy fun.  Well, at least crazy.

Yet another candidate nobody was clamoring for.

Yep, crazy fun?  Trump has already made Barry an offer of a lifetime of free golf at Trump National Golf Club if he resigns early.  I don't know whether to laugh at the joke or cry because this is where we currently are in this country; people with massive amounts of money trying to out buy the other into the White House.

Remember Hillary is running, so the statement ought to be: "Is Trump in? Or Ross Perot?"

So, you'd vote for a guy because he's well known and has a lot of money, despite the fact that he proposed a wealth tax to take money from your bank account just because it's there? Wanna talk about confiscatory tax policies? There it is.
How about the fact that he's just this side of malignant megalomania? He said he's going to get Mexico to build our border fence and make them pay for it. With. A. Straight. Face. This isn't a business deal, Donald, this is international relations. You don't get a deal like that without open warfare and a peace treaty.

The man is not conservative. At. All.

 :lmao:

Trump;
Quote
I will build a great wall — and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me —and I’ll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words.

Well, Obama promised a lot of B-S too..........
