"My wife is going to vote for the first time in years because of Bernie Sanders".

That's what someone said to me this morning, after they saw my Bernie Sanders For President bumper sticker.

Does that someone even exist?

Fine with me if the someone does.  Hell, even if by some miracle Bernie got elected, Congress would choke on almost everything he wants to do and it would never happen, unlike what would happen if Hitlery gets in.

That, by the way, is one of the two real reasons for the 90s economic boom attributed to Slick Willie, who in reality had virtually nothing to do with it.  One cause was the explosive growth of the internet and e-commerce, the other was that a President swept in with a Left-wing agenda pissed off the electorate so badly in his first two years that he broke his own party's death-grip on Congress, and was unable to pass any of the Leftist BS for the remaining six years, eventually coming to terms with it since he had no actual convictions or principles in the first place.

Notice how this person didn't say they were voting FOR Sanders. Just BECAUSE of Sanders.

I thought this thread was going to be about the d-bag primitive. Now we have two of them posting about inflatable wives.

Their inflatable wives are the best match for them. Besides, they probably are registered to vote and vote Dem multiple times in the same elections.

It's a quirk of election law. If the inflatable wife is not tethered on Election Day, she can vote in any precinct where she touches the ground. The law doesn't limit it to one vote.

It was the year 2000 problem that drove the boom of the late 90's. Companies were tossing money at any warm body that could spell computer.  Once a lot of these companies figured out they A) were running out of time to recode their software that had been running for decades, and B) they could buy replacement software cheaper than they could hire people to recode, it led to a massive boom in the internet apps. Anybody that could program was making tons of money and spending.

If that didn't happen, Clinton would never have had the economy he did. It eventually burst once Y2K was over and the world didn't end.

Most of it was a phony economy that mimicked a phony president.
There were so many internet stocks that had no balance sheets, no P&L statements, no revenue, no underlying value that were selling for unprecedented prices per share.
It was all about following the lead of a dishonest president, a dishonest vice president(CCX), and dishonest party hacks like Terry McAwful selling out of global crossing on insider information, making 15 million just before the stock went bankrupt.
Good job Clinton administration.

Someone posted it here before, I can't remember who, that TheRapist was the beneficiary of four huge economic boosters:

Boomers in their prime earning and spending years and the internet/tech boom were two of them.  I hadn't thought about that one.

A Professor and former Trotskyite (slapped to reality by Ronaldus Maximus! :saluteusmc: ) made the case that Wal-Mart alone did more for the economy than TheRapist ever did.

I remember a lot of IBEW guys bragging how the union's retirement bulged with all that windfall from Global Crossing. Caused more than a few to take an early retirement. Problem was, within a year, most were back on the job due to the money growing legs and disappearing from the union's coffers, and all that extra retirement cash was no more than a fart in the wind.

If I do manage to see any Bernie Sanders bumper stickers around town, I'm going to approach the DUmmies with similar claims.

My aunt... My uncle.... My dead grandmother wants to vote for Bernie but Hillary already has her vote. Stuff like that.

Yes you are correct that it was a phony economy. It was phony as far as the internet companies. I remember yahoo at like 500 a share, microsoft even higher, (had the chance to buy microsoft back in like 87 cheap and turned it down  :banghead:) it was THE BIG NEW THING!

What was real was the Y2k problem. Lots of money was spent on that.  That and the housing bubble.

Someone posted it here before, I can't remember who, that TheRapist was the beneficiary of four huge economic boosters:

Your two, Y2K, and the housing bubble was just beginning were the factors.  The smart ones got in the market, made their money and got the hell out.  And they spent it. Remember day trading?

Bush actually got us out of that recession by his tax cuts. By 2005 we had full employment... then the housing bubble burst. I remember hearing on the radio about how to refi your house and take equity out.  Again the smart ones got out.

Out of all of this, we got obumbles. His policies are the direct result of the economy not bouncing back. Then to make matters worse, the fed started buying bonds. Now we are in another bubble waiting to burst. The smart money is starting to get out except this time, bonds are not a safe haven. The next recession, the obumbles recession, will be far worse than the last one. Far, far worse.

Obumbles has succeeded. He has brought this country to her knees. The only question is when does it happen. And do we have a leader in the wings that can bring us back like Reagan did.

Or do what I do, just point and tell them their car has been vandalized.  Somebody put a (Bernie, Hillery, whoever) bumper sticker on it.   :rotf:

I want them to think everyone they meet is into Bernie, so I wouldn't say the 'grandma' one. But just come up with random relatives/friends.

I should probably do a little research about Bernie so I can come off as little informed as possible.

One idiot out of hundreds got lucky.

Amazon, Google, and Yahoo didn't look any more sensible than Pets.com, Drkoop, or eToys while the bubble grew.

Even the winners had to survive 90% losses during the 2000-2002 dotcom bust before growth began.

People who held on, or who had the nerve to jump in during the bust, either got wiped out or made a ton of money.

It was hard to resist mutual funds that were making 50% annual returns, and a lot of 401K accounts got obliterated.
