Yesterday, I ran across a person that I would presume was in this country illegally in the course of my duties at my current job. The facts of the matter are: No SS card or number, no green card, no Texas ID, no passport. While attempting to do a credit check for an application for credit, all of these things surfaced. I know this guy's name and address. I'm tempted to turn him into INS, but........ would it bode bad for the employer, a large retail chain?? Could it come back to bite me ?? What would you do ??
For the record, I am vehemently opposed to illegal immigrants.

Application for credit? With no SS card or number, no green card, no Texas ID, no passport? That is either real stupidity or balls like watermelons.
My poodle should apply for credit. At least he can prove he was born in the USA. He has papers!
Moral dilemma: You are not obligated to turn this person in. Let your company know and see how they want to handle it. You not acting on your own is not a bad or irresponsible thing.
Otherwise, you know right from wrong and you must follow your own heart. Make a decision within the next day and stick to it.

Many of the "immigrants" I deal with apply for credit at this store. This is the first one that I've encountered that didn't have the proper documentation. Most of them barely speak English.......
For the record, my company leans WAY left....... after all, it's affiliated with Rosie O'Donnell....... :loser:

I'm with Undies. Sounds doubtful they would care to report it.
How in the world can they afford to give credit to someone with none of the things you mentioned? I hope they are turned down in those cases.
I would be tempted to report them to ICE. Is there a way to do it without it coming back to your employer and causing you a problem?

Ohh, I didn't mention that I couldn't go forward with the credit app. The required documentation was absent, so, he paid $800 cash for his appliances and delivery charges. I may speak to one of the managers at work, as he is a lifelong friend. I'll probably make my decision based on his input.

*eyeroll* he had the cash huh? probably from an under-the-table job.

The guy who mows my yard (I don't know his status - he works with my daughter) popped by at 9:15 and left at 9:45 with $40.00. He said he had about ten more yards to do. I don't know if he had mowed a couple before he traveled out to my "estate" or not. For all I know, he could have made about $500.00 cash in one day.

For some reason, the first thing which popped into my head when I read WWYD was What Would Yentl Do?

Report him...he doesn't belong here.
