That be retardant.

They better blame the true bad guys: The democrats who owned all 3 branches and yet never upped SS.
It is ALL OF CONGRESS that won't keep SS up with inflation.
Republicans have never lowered SS that I am aware of.

Democrat slum lord own her dwelling or something???????????????

Said by the primitive who's been riding the social security disability gravy train since 1992.
Twenty-three years. I think she's long ago gotten more than what she deserves.
-
you know, we could try something that's never been attempted before. It could even keep those evil republicans away from the game. Privatize SS.
-
Colonel Harlen Sanders looked at his first social security check and scoffed at the idea he could survive off of it.
So he slept in his car for the next couple of years trying to get a business idea off the ground.
Harlen was 65 years old when he began that odyssey.

That could be an apples-to-pineapples comparison ... if the two things were remotely related. About the only Rockefeller I know of who might be getting $$ from the US government is Jay Rockefeller, if he's receiving $$ from his pension as US Senator. Jay is a D, BTW.

Guess what stupid shit, your rent went up due to Odumbocare taxes and higher property taxes.

Elmer S. E. Dump (1,425 posts)
7. I'm getting there, believe me. Sucks to get old.
Actually, no, it doesn't. Not really.
At 72, I still go to the gym regularly (set a new PR of 250 lbs on deadlift yesterday, 4 reps), we just had the roof reshingled (it's paid for), wife and I go out to eat at least 3 times per week (places with tables, napkins, wait staff), starting to repaint the house (healthy enough to do it myself).
I sorta feel sorry for people like Elmer who thinks like he does. Nah! No I don't.

Someone needs to remind them that SS was setup to supplement your retirement, not BE your retirement.
Me, I wish I could opt out. I tried to years ago but couldn't prove my Amish roots.

DO any of those stupid DUchebags realize that Obama has been president for 6 years? That it is his "economic" policies that have been doing all the damage? That the real hyper inflation of the fed printing $5 trillion and the Obama regime borrowing $10 trillion in those 6 years has not even been felt?
No, of course not. As always higher taxes, bigger government, and more regulations will bring the economy back...oh and a higher minimum wage. Wait until granny has to pay $12 for Big Mac.
on edit: How could granny's rent gone up $100? Barak "economic genius" Obama says the inflation rate is under 2%. Granny's rent would have to be around $5000/mo.

H-5!
I could say that I, too, am "getting there", it "sucks ...", etc., but don't see a need to do so. I started and finished - fast walking - my first half marathon 8 days after my 58th BD; I completed 9 halfs last year and 5 so far this year. A time will come when physical limitations will lessen what I can do, but for now I'm learning and expanding what I can do if I work at it a bit. 4 of my last 9 races had hilly terrain that I thought, a year ago, I shouldn't try. My avatar is the bib and finisher's medal from a race this past January.
Your post encourages me, dane!

Greed, malice, envy, sloth, susceptibility to propaganda, lack of experience, mental retardation, genetic defects.......

To one degree or the other, it's all of the above.

You are very kind. Thank you.
I have discovered that when the body whispers quietly "If you do that again I'm gonna hurt you really bad" it is always prudent to listen.

Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.), Net worth $101 million.
What say you, DUmbasses?

Not only that SVPete, but there was an article in the local liberal paper here around 25 or 30 years ago that he made $100 million a year in income off his trust investments and a good portion of that was tax exempt. But it was OK because he is a dem. Only eevil rethugs should pay taxes.
He did not need his congress pay, could have donated to some place in WV that could have used it. Did he? No. He used it to pay for his digs in DC. He does not even need his congress pension or SS. Will he donate it? No. Does he even donate anything to WV, the state that elected him? A big fat no.
**** Rockefeller the long time dem. At least Byrd donated some of his wealth to his state.

And his name to everything built in W.V. since 1900.

The Lib/Prog stereotype of a "rich" person is some one living luxuriously off a trust fund. American reality is that most "rich" people are of the first generation type, people who earned their wealth through their own business skills, athleticism, or artistry. Ironically, among the trust-funders are/were some very prominent Lib/Prog D pols, e.g. the Kennedys and Jay Rockefeller.

At least Byrd donated some of his wealth to his state.
If he did it was to purchase naming rights to nearly every school, hospital, clinic, bridge, highway, park, and government building in the state.

He paid for that with OPM!

Yes to all of the above. He was, however, a very generous man with his personal wealth, donated to many charities in WV and his love for WV and the people that reside there is without question.
Rockefeller, on the other hand, never spent a damned dime of his own money in this state except to buy elections. Bought every election he ever won. He spent over 11 million dollars of his own money to win a senate election back in the mid 80's and at the time that was the most ever spent on a senate election in the USA. He was running against Arch Moore and Arch had bumper stickers made that said "Make him spend it all".
Ironically Arch Moore's daughter, Shelly Moore Capito, won the senate seat that Rocky retired from.
Gotta love WV. :rotf:
