Obama’s trade bill clears key Senate hurdle
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama’s trade agenda cleared a key Senate hurdle and advanced toward passage on Thursday despite the strong opposition of most Democrats.
The 62-38 vote capped a long, tense roll call on a measure that will allow Obama to negotiate trade deals that Congress can only accept or reject, but not change.
With Republicans generally in favor of the measure, the pivotal votes were cast by Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., and a handful of other lawmakers who support the trade measure. They used the showdown as leverage to seek a commitment that the Senate would act next month on legislation to keep the Export-Import Bank in existence. The government-backed bank backs overseas sales by US companies.

I'm pretty pissed about this too. For one simple reason, whatever Obama does is designed to hurt our country. The republicans went along with it. The only reason the republicans did win so big in 14 was to stop Obama. They ran on nothing. Now they have given Obama more than he would have gotten under the accused pederast, Harry Reid.

They just can't stand the thought of a black man making the green backs.

not surprised...didn't vote for McConnell for this very reason.

I can't think of one thing that Obama has done or wanted to do that has helped America. That is why I don't like the TTP no matter how many so-called republicans vote for it.
The only hope is that they plan to vote down any trade pact Obama brings back, but that is unlikely.

Yep. All in the name of "We can govern". Funny thing is they will get the blame either way. If they vote for it, and I think it is a disaster, they will get the blame. If they don't, then they are not governing and compromising and they will get the blame.
The GOP needs to quit worrying about the MSM and boycott the whole MSM Sunday talk shows. Without GOP participation, the MSM Sunday talk shows will eventually be looked upon as the Dem shills they are. The GOP would be better off getting the smaller newspapers and newscasts and giving them interviews to get their message out. They won't be so hostile. Then the GOP can effective counter the lib MSM.

A meaningless victory.
