Title: How often do you watch Fox News?
Post by: Chris_ on May 12, 2015, 12:28:28 AM
How often do you tune in to Fox News and aren't arbitrarily subjected to it at various car dealerships, doctor's offices, quick oil change places, and fast food restaurants?

DUmmies love to announce that conservatives as a whole feed from "Faux News" like a baby from its mother's teat.  I don't normally ask about television viewing habits, but I almost never watch it.  I enjoy Bret Baier's show but don't go out of my way to watch it.  I skip over Fox News when I see it on the channel guide.  It simply doesn't interest me.  I don't care for O'Reilly or Hannity or anything else that makes me feel like the host is blatantly pushing a single viewpoint or agenda.

So... how do you rank on the mind-numbed robot scale?

No JewTV choice?

I have it on in the background quite a bit and everyday.

Direct TV has a Jewish channel, but it's mostly Jackie Mason reruns and some sort of Hebrew basketball feature.  Go figure.

I don't get to watch it as much as I used to...but that's because AFN mixes in a handful of FNC shows with MSNBC CNN and the rest of the alphabet soup that is the MSM.

If SNY or MLB Network . . . Or Disney Channel/Disney Jr., or Nick Jr., or Cartoon Network aren't on, FNC is.

It's actually not on that much.  I didn't include my wife's choices (EWTN, Insp) in the above.  She occasionally flips it to CNN or MSNBC, and if I'm in the mood for comedy and/or fiction, I'll watch MSNBC with her.

With 10 having responded I'm the lone "Never". Our TV watching is end-of-the-day entertainment.

My main sources of news/opinion are the morning drive show on KSFO (Brian Sussman, one of several who occasionally sub for Mark Levin), sites like PJMedia and Drudge, and discussion sites like CC. Were I able to listen to ConservaTalk radio I'd listen to Rush or Hugh Hewitt, but not to Hannity or Levin (style, not substance), and would avoid Savage; I liked Glenn Beck when he had a sense of humor.

I almost selected "never".  I think, in the last four years, I've watched it three times.

I frequently see it on one of the TVs at the gym, but I almost always have music in my headphones, so I don't hear it. But the poll specifically excluded such circumstances.

I don't have anything against Fox, but after a full day on the job, 1-1.5 hours of commute, working out, and such I need to relax.

IMO, underlying - I know, an appropriate choice of words - DU-folks' and other Libs'/Progs' stereotype of conservatives watching Fox News 24x7x52 is the horrifying fear that Fox's large viewership includes a large number of less politically focused people. IOW, a dread that MesSNBC, et al, have lost many of the the hearts and minds of ordinary people.

Never.....because I don't have cable.

Side note.....I haven't watched a segment of CBS 60 Minutes in years but Sunday night they had a former Russian spy on and I watched it. When he was asked what the Russian's biggest fear was during the Cold War, his answer was Ronald Reagan.

I do not watch the news at all.  I go to several websites to see news and it's rarely Fox.  Usually I go to BBC.  Sad to say they reporters across the pond actually report on actual happenings over here.

Oh Lawd, Hannity bugs the shit out of me.  His whining is like dragging a fork between my teeth.  Beck bugs me because he is always crying then he gets on some self rightous rant.  I do love Rush. I do listen to him while working.  I'm just amazed how he can predict something and then years later pull tape from years before and he was right.

I chose never.  I only watch cable news when a major live news event occurs, and flip around for the best video.  It's better just to mute them most of the time.  The baseless speculation to fill airtime is as annoying.

A little bit more than never, but not much.  I don't have cable--I pay to have garbage hauled away from my house, I'd be a fool to pay to have it piped in.  Not that Fox News is garbage, I'm talking about cable TV in general.  I do watch Fox News if I am staying in a motel or visiting my mother.  And I occasionally catch Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace since I get it for free over the air.

yep.  We shoot during the National Anthem, Player introductions, any homerun for the Angels and a victory volley of the Angels win.

This was a shot that captured a comet just leaving the tube during the Anthem on opening day

On the subject of watching Fox News. I find it interestnig that the majority of us conservative knuckledraggers on this site don't watch Fox on a regular basis or at all. This kinda shoots down the DUmmies claim that we are a bunch of brainwashed zombies who have to turn to Fox for our daily instructions on how to think and who to hate.

I might turn to Fox News on election day.  Perhaps if there is breaking news during the rare times I'm home.

Did discover a really cool overnight radio show about a year ago, Red Eye Radio based out of DFW but is a national broadcast.  It is on from midnight to 5 am Central time.  The best part is their smartphone app.  They post podcasts every morning following their show.  You can listen to five hours without commercials as they are edited out, which cuts the time down to about 3 hours.

The two hosts are very entertaining, and their beliefs would fit in well here.  It is a show very unlike Rush, Savage, Levin...all of whom I listen to occasionally.  Check it out.

Ralphie's 2 cents.

I watch/listen to Megyn Kelly when I can. Everyone else is more or less unwatchable: O'Reilly is too much of a Walter Winchell wannabe, Hannity is the Right's Ed Schultz, and the others are just background noise. I cannot bear to listen to that smarmy ferret Shep Smith at all.

I do not consider any other organization to be news.

I like the Five for Gutfield, Guilfoyle, and Tantaros, Megyn, and Greta. I didn't know how I'd take Greta coming from CNN, but she's been one of the most fair and balanced people there. I cannot STAND O'Reilly and Sean kinda gets on my nerves. That's when I watch it, which is rare. I'm normally on my Apple TV watching movies from ITunes, NetFlix, or YouTube videos. It's easier to get news from the internet, even Facebook. News channels will run a story 5000 times in one day. I watched last night because I was waiting for the fireworks in Ferguson.

I watch "Occasionally (1-2 days a week)" because that averages to around 5 to 10 days a month. And when I say watch, I mean I might see it for an hour, or it may be for only 5 minutes. But to sit down and watch FN, not really. And certainly not the political stuff at the end of the night. So more accurately, it's maybe 4-5 hours a month total.

Nah, I'd rather find a game to watch or a movie on netflix. Something where I can just zone out and watch things unfold at the end of a busy day.

I hardly ever watch Hannity or O'Reilly.  The best part of O'Reilly's show is on Monday when he has Jesse Watter's do his Watter's World segment.

I guess O'Reilly isn't a straight news program per se, but I can't stand his enormous ego and his incessant references to himself. As for Hannity, he just doesn't seem very smart to me. By the time he comes on, I have other things to do, anyway.

Like most of my CC brethren, I have better things to do than watch television, anyway. This stands in contrast to DU, where they watch more television than my teenagers. I never sat through even five minutes of the Daily Show, nor whatever that other asshole did, and I stopped watching late night television in the early 90's.

They have a massive collection of documentaries that's continuously growing. I can't stand anything on TV anymore. Every now and then I'll watch something like Poolmaster just to get ideas of what I'll do if I ever hit MegaMillions.      TV is bullshit. It's either people pretending to be rich or endless shows with people competing against each other. And at some point, American audiences became completely fine with turning over critique privileges to pissy, faggy British men. Also, cooking shows used to be slightly relaxing, but now it's nothing but assholes trying to impress professional assholes.

I usually have it and/or Fox Business on in the morning to catch up on the world news, cluttered as F&F is with culture war BS and other silly crap.  CNN production values are too horrible to endure, and the fake intensity and Prog BS on the alphabet network show like 'Today' is too cringeworthy to handle.  I hardly ever waste any time on their evening line-up, though once in a blue moon Greta has something interesting going.  Can't handle O'Reilly at all.

I watch "Ice Road Truckers", cuz I used to be a trucker, not of the ice road variety, although there were a few winters I could have made the case, and "Moonshiners", since I have friends and family in Franklin County, VA.

Outside of auto racing (F1, Indycar, NHRA, NASCAR), tractor pulling, or an old classic movie, not much else on TV interests me.

I do watch it every day that either The Five or Outnumbered is on, because enjoy the fairly light hearted banter that goes on.  Gutfield works better as part of the five than as his own show host, and Dana Perino's love for the Bushes is kinda blatant, but understandable.  I've always admired Andrea Tantaros, Kimberley Guilfoyle and Eric Bolling.  The bloviating Bill O'Reilly is worse than Trump with his mouth and I think he's more of a narcissist, but NOT at all honest about it, pretending to be humble and all that shit.  I still like Hannity but this old lady gets up at 0430 or 0500 to walk one of the dogs 3 or 5 miles, and thus is fast asleep when he comes on.

All that aside, the days I don't tune in to FOX are not soul crushing. :-)

Yikes, that is a long commute. I would be facing about the same if I took a job in the big city for more money.

As for Fox, I used to watch it almost every morning. I also like to watch Imus, but he is now gone.

Between Fox Business & Fox News, it's only a few days a month now. In fact some months it would be zero.
