Title: The Big Guy Is Bleeding Out
Post by: GOBUCKS on May 07, 2015, 01:54:22 AM
In lieu of this week's impending death reminder, the Bellevue Big Guy is throwing a curve.

The Big Guy, who is dying, is giving blood.

I hope the recipient is notified that it came from a guy on his deathbed.

I wouldn't want any of that shit.

And from the looks of it, the Big Guy is really wasting away.

I was interviewed on live TV while donating blood (challenge to others to donate) updated VIDEO

Video: http://kmtv.video.jrn.com/?ndn.trackingGroup=90837&ndn.siteSection=kmtvstudio_hom_non_sec&ndn.videoId=29027958&freewheel=90837&sitesection=kmtvstudio_hom_non_sec&vid=29027958

I was at the Bellevue Fire Training Academy. No idea this would happen. KMTV was doing a live shot there. I explained CMV negative and sounded like I knew what I was talking about.

I'm O positive CMV negative. What Does It Mean to Have CMV-Negative Blood?: http://blog.inceptsaves.com/blog/2011/05/04/what-does-it-mean-to-have-cmv-negative-blood/

I challenge other DUers to donate blood at an upcoming drive in their area!

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV)--Throughout the week, you may have seen the #supportblue or #supportred on twitter. It's a friendly rivalry among first responders.

For the past seven years, the Red Cross has partnered with Douglas/Sarpy County first responders for the Battle of the Badges.

So after decades in the sewer department, and a few months scrubbing cruisers and answering the phone at the police station while fighting for his early retirement, he calls himself a police retiree.

2. I donate plasma twice a week...

I don't mind....
Lots of DUmmies pay for their dope by selling plasma.

I haven't giving blood in a few months.  The Red Cross obnoxiously harasses you as soon as you are able to give blood again.  Sometimes 5 calls in the same day.

Annoying me is not the way to get me to give blood.

Well, good for the big guy, being so generous with a "sacrifice" that, really, doesn't cost him anything.

<<<O+, but probably CMV+ too.

I retract what I said about Steve dying of brain-eating worms. His overgrown neckbeard is going to strangle him to death.

For some strange reason I would think that someone who is terminal would be advised against giving blood.

I would certainly think so, but I'm not on the disability fast track.

I have a clotting disorder and they forbid me from giving blood. Which sucks because I am o-.

I would think if he was dying they wouldn't want him to spend any energy/body resources.  :???:

I wouldn't want to catch his mad cow disease from a transfusion. Way to go, Steve.

Do they still not allow people with tattoos to give blood? It's been a while; but last time I tried I was told "No, thank you" due to tattoos. And I'm RHneg....I figured they would need some blood like that.

I might be thinking about donating plasma. There was a "booth" here at work one year during our employee picnic. They were asking for people to sign up for some kind of donations. There was a sign that said you couldn't sign up if you had tattoos.

Edited to add:
I just looked it up; and it was donating plasma that excluded people with recent tattoos. People with tattoos older than 12 months may still be eligible. One of my tats was more recent than that. I might be able to donate now.

I donate blood every two months I'm available, on the grounds that there's a regular blood drive in which successful donors are given not just juice, but also a free movie ticket, and they've been lately adding Rice Krispie Treats, too.
I've been doing this for almost 11 years, the first movie I saw using a blood- drive ticket was 'Dodgeball.'

They give out walmart cards for the double red donations that I do every 6 months.  I'd accumulated $30 worth in my wallet, so it was funny to use them for the kids' new pool.  My 7 yr old was concerned when I started calling it a "blood pool"
