The most racist places in America are in the rural Northeast and South, according to a new study based on Google search data published in PLOS ONE.
The research was led by data scientist Seth Stephens-Davidowitz, who said Google data “are unlikely to suffer from major social censoring,†Washington Post reported. He said the results correlate with other standard measures used to study racist attitudes.
Other methods, such as simply asking people, have proved unsuccessful, due to implicit bias, meaning the attitudes are held on a subconscious level. Such attitudes are more likely to be expressed anonymously online, or as Stephens-Davidowitz suggests, through Google search data.
The research paper looked at searches containing the N-word, which the study notes is searched for frequently. Not all searches for the word are inherently racist, of course, and not all racists search for the word, Washington Post reported.

I don't know if the methodology bears out the conclusions of the study.

If you have less chance of encountering someone of another race, well then............

Boston has been long known for its racism. Figures since so many liberals inhabit the area.

Their methodology is based on the mistaken belief that only whites can be racists. Searching for the "N-word" should not imply racism. I was only looking for a rap song and the was part of the lyrics I remembered.
I would think a Twitter and Facebook study would be better than using google search data. However, they would still discount racist comments from blacks.

It sounds like a far fetching story.

GMTA.
Greater minds organize and express thoughts better, and thank you for doing so.

I'm confident it doesn't.
The author of the study is a so-called 'data scientist'? Shit, I guess the local glowbull climate change 'research' program wasn't hiring.

I tend to agree. I live in an area that is categorized as "less than average" in racism. We also have a much higher than average influx of illegals. So does that mean that the area is less racist or is it that we have had no choice but to deal with our government not securing the damn border and enforcing existing laws?

[DU-Speak] It's an obvious deflection! Much of the Northeast and Midwest are red, and the South isn't solid red! And Texas almost entirely blue?! Too obviously fake! [/DU-Speak]
Seriously, there are more than a few occasions when I do searches on ideas/words that are the diametric opposite of my real views. How does Google discern between searches that are aligned with a user's views and searches that are aligned opposite? Further, from past experience I've learned that Google's ad program frequently did/does stuff like feeding me ads from PP and NARAL when I've been searching Pro-Life sites and abortion-related news stories. I don't even want to think what ads I would see if I searched for rap lyrics!

Funny you should mention that.
The armpits of liberalism are enjoying a prolonged ski season while we are being told the climate is warming...
Remember last year's New York Times warning about the end of snow?
Then we were told that 2014 was the hottest year on record.
Well, goodbye to all that and hello to snow in May!
In May?
Yes, in May.
The Associated Press is reporting that many New England snow resorts are still open...in May.
Despite all the dire warnings by the mainstream media about "Climate Change" aka Global Warming, Mother Nature seems to working contrary to the predictions.
Of course, the AP sees no irony in all this snow after MSM apocalyptic visions of the "end of snow" and the earth heating up.
However, as we shall see, their readers do not let this contradiction pass unnoticed:
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- Skiers and snowboarders at Vermont's Sugarbush resort right now can spend the morning on the slopes and play golf in the afternoon - testament to the abundance of snow that extended the season at many northern New England ski areas.
Sugarbush is one of more than half dozen areas in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine still operating this weekend.
New Hampshire's Wildcat Mountain in Pinkham Notch prides itself on being the state's last ski area open in the spring but marketing director Thomas Prindle says they haven't made it into May in more than a decade.
...Vermont's Killington Resort is shooting for June 1 for the first time in a decade, marketing director Michael Joseph said Friday. The mountain sold more than 2,000 of its spring season passes that are good from March 14 on - up from 600 last year.
Meteorologist Tony Vazzano of Center Sandwich, New Hampshire, is continuing to provide forecasts to many of the still-open areas on a daily basis, albeit from his vacation location on Chincoteague Island in Virginia.
''We've had so much snow and the cold to preserve it,'' Vazzano said. ''We had storm after storm after storm.''
The readers of this story definitely took note of snow in May despite the many Global Warming warnings:
Meanwhile Al Gore says, "Run along. There is nothing to see here. Do not believe this story as AGW dictates there will be no snow anymore in New England, and we must raise taxes and business cost so I and my elite friends can control your lives."
When will this global warming catastrophe end?
Thank goodness for global warming which is extending the ski season.
I bet all the suckers who fell for the global warming scam are feeling really stupid now.
Exit question: Will Al Gore be snowboarding in New England during the Memorial Day Weekend?
