here's my issue with the 'rare' part of safe, legal and rare
it implies there are too many abortions being performed. as long as it's the woman's choice, i don't care how many abortions happen.

saying it should be last resort still shames it. i use the most reliable form of contraception short of sterilization, but i would get an abortion in a second in the very unlikely event of failure.

yes, i fully support comprehensive sex ed and accessible and affordable contraception, but because it gives women more autonomy, not because i think there need to be fewer abortions.

am i pro-abortion? it gives women control over their lives and bodies, so you bet your ass i am.

the only qualifiers on it should be safe, legal and accessible.

Hopefully it never reproduces.

5. Rare is relative. There should be exactly as many abortions as are needed.

Saying it should be "rare" indicates - clearly - that it is happening more than it should be and that there are 'good' and 'bad' abortions. Abortion is one of the most stigmatized events of a woman's life and the widespread "rare" mantra propagates that.

Calling for it to be "rare" proposes that there is something wrong with abortion. It places the procedure as a very different type of health care. One in which the goal is reduced use rather than expanded access and enhanced quality. And this has contributed to the significant decline in the number of locations where abortions are performed in the United States. The result is also fewer physicians - good physicians - who are even taught abortion care. Less than half of all OB/GYN's residency programs offer training in abortion care.

Saying it should be rare legitimizes efforts to restrict access to abortion.

Another one who should have been aborted.

7. it absolutely legitimizes efforts to restrict it and agree 100% that it should happen as often as it needs to. you will always be far more eloquent on this issue than i can ever be and you speak for me.

Here is my take- ALL leftists, communists, moaists, and most DUmpmonkies should be rounded up and forced sterilized. Any children they might have should be taken away and raised by teh Catholic Church. All of them should never be allowed to adopt or raise children or even be within a 100 yards of them.

it would take two generations of this before the country was back on track.

11. women should have access to birth control because it gives them autonomy over their lives it should have nothing to do with how many abortions are being performed. every woman should have the choice and access to have an abortion with no questions asked or judgments made.

Yes- abotion is just another method of Birth Control. Is that what you believe?

19. If EVERY woman had access to sex education and birth control, abortions would be more rare. That is the sentiment behind the phrase "safe, legal and RARE".

It is not a matter of fewer abortions - it's a matter of fewer unwanted pregnanices resulting from a lack of sex education and easy access to birth control. Fewer unwanted pregnancies leads to fewer abortions. Unrestricted access to education and birth control would mean abortion becomes rare.

It's not rocket science; it's simple math.

30. Abortion should be legal and available because

self-defense is always legal.

For over 40 years this truth has taken back seat to language that emphasizes the reality that terminating a pregnancy is the end of a life. Advocacy has been allowed to spin around irrelevant questions about when life begins and the preciousness of human life.

Life began a billion years ago and comes to each generation in an uninterrupted stream. Life is precious because death cannot be undone.

None of that precludes the right and necessity of self-defense. Our society accepts that self-defense and defense of society and nation sometimes requires homicide. Trying to frame abortion as something else is an affront to common sense of even the most marginally educated.

No matter how unpleasant the idea of terminating life may be, no matter how each individual may hope and expect to never need to invoke it, the right to self-defense is fundamental to human rights.

Women must have this right of self-defense as a matter of equality. The nature of our species' reproductive physiology focuses this as a woman's issue, while the advance of technology has made this right enforceable. Birth control and abortion are pathways to realization of this right.

For over 40 years promotion of reproductive rights as self-defence has been pushed off the table by rhetoric about legal and religious claims of humanness and false suppositions that innocence of the unborn can not be harmful.

It's time to recognize that abortion is an act of self-defense.

I'm pro-self defense and pro- women's right to self-determination.

Abortion is self-defense?

35. It implies that right wing policy = more abortions

Rare = unnecessary.

It is refreshing to see true supporters of abortion tell the unvarnished truth about their beliefs.
At least they don't hide behind weasel words.
They don't slink around behind semantics and polemics.

Safe. Who are you kidding?! With scores or hundreds of Kermit Gosnells, most undetected, across the US Butchering babies and women, that is a sick joke! With abortuaries and feminazis fighting laws requiring abortuaries to comply with the same safety, cleanliness and training standards other, less invasive, outpatient surgery centers comply with, that is a beyond sick joke!

I'm good sometimes at saying 1/2 or 3/4 os what I mean to say ...

Rare. Remind me again ... what pol used that line? IIRC the initials that come to mind are W, J, and C. Not that he meant it in any meaningful sense or way.

The "Safe, Legal, and Rare" propaganda line and the "Legal and Safe" bumpersticker slogan are lies. A more honest bumpersticker would say, Keep Abortion Legal for All 9 Months and Profitable"!

If you are not intelligent enough to keep your sexual desires contained during your fertile week then why should I have to pay/agree with your "form" of birth control, abortion?

Do y'all have no shame?  it's well known that having sex can lead to a baby. It's NO SURPRISE!!!!  But you make a baby pay with it's life for your few minutes of pleasure (or few seconds  :fuelfire:).

This part of the whole Pro Abortion mindset has always pissed me off.  Ok I get that it's the woman who carries the child...but they are only 50% of the process of making that child.

The pro abortion types never EVER consider the wishes or desires of the other half of that child's creator...the father when it comes to the decision of whether to have the baby or not and that's bullshit.  Why should the ONLY time the father gets brought into the conversation is when money is involved?

It's a arather selfish and arrogant mindset to have where this topic is concerned IMO.

They don't have to have any shame anymore Gina.  It's the continuation of the whole "if it feels good do it" mindset.

You'll see where this mentality comes from when your kids hit high school...if it's not in Jr. High by then.

I as a parent have no say over my teenage daughter when she's at school (according to them anyway)...she can see a school employed shrink, get birth control from the in house womens services office and neither I nor my wife are allowed to know about it.

I honestly think this is an demented extension for their hatred of the country as in their twisted minds it is a way to get back at men who built it.

If you want to see what really lives in the heart of a Liberal/Progressive...look at their mindset on how to treat infants and the elderly.

Abstinence has been proven to be 100% effective in every case it's been utilized. No failures no abortion right?

There have been cases when school employees have secretly arranged for girls to have abortions, including transportation to PP and back. At least one such case came to light when the girl hemorrhaged and had to be taken to her regular Dr. by parents who had no clue what had gone on.

If a man doesn't want to be a father, and the woman wants to keep the baby, then he shouldn't be forced to pay child support. After all, it is the woman's body. It's her responsibility to care for that clump of cells if she lets  it come to term.  :fuelfire:
