Fromt eh retards who give you waterboarding is torture, loud noices are torture, everything christian is torture we now have Supermax Prisons are Torture...
F4lconF16 (2,061 posts)
In case people don't have a good understanding of what a supermax is, it is torture.
Read this:
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/29/magazine/inside-americas-toughest-federal-prison.html?_r=0
And realize that's a pretty damn sanitized version of the hell that people go through. There are even worse places to be in our prisons if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time, and much better articles than this one to show that.
If you are advocating for supermax prison time for anyone--I don't care what they did--you are advocating for torture. There is no way around that.
::) Can't kill them. Can't put them in prison. I Guess we'll just have to let them go.

126. This sort of false dichotomy seems to be a standard talking point in favor of torture. In case you didn't realize it, there are many ways to allow people to have social contact while denying them the opportunity for physical contact.

163. Yeah...the theory vs. the reality of dealing with monsters,
Murderers, and organized criminals....oh, they're not all that bad...maybe you should take some in, I'm sure your superior people skills could win them over....reality vs. Perception...
:-)

165. Good, ignore the point I just made, put words in my mouth, and then ridicule.
typical.

178. It is a totally mystery how other countries manage it without resorting to torture.
oh, yes. I am sure the US has the worst prison system in the world. ::)

54. So what do you consider needs change
They have TV, radio, books, and exercise. They have their own shower and toilet. They have their own bed. The bed may need a better mattress I admit. They get 3 meals a day and the best medical. Granted they don't have conversations a lot, but they have better conditions then our homeless. I am very curious about your vision of jail for hardened criminals.

182. Their medical is quite lacking
I read the full article. The BoP literally discontinued new inmates' prescriptions for psychiatric meds, because, and I'm quoting from the warden cited in the article here, "We don't give out feel-good drugs."
So there's a lawsuit against the BoP because taking schizophrenics, severe bi-polar disorder sufferers, PTSD, etc. off meds (let alone so abruptly) is medically Not a Very Good Idea. Those prisoners with mental illness, who should not be there in the first place because they will not receive proper treatment there, turn around and harm themselves (the article has some pretty graphic examples, including someone who used a drill bit to drill a hole through his skull) that then require far more medical attention to treat than if they had just maintained the prisoners' damn prescriptions in the first place.
Now granted the homeless don't get medical either, and a subset of the homeless is so desperate for shelter that they commit petty crimes just to receive a prison sentence. However, rather than tearing down prison conditions to the same level that the homeless face, I'd rather we pursue a Housing First approach so the homeless don't get so desperate they commit petty crimes just for a warm jail cell and food.

7. We know how police treat innocent men on the outside, shooting in the back...
You just need to use your imagination and picture the worst.
And then double or triple that.
Sad to say, I have some work experience associated with incarcerated individuals.
It's horrifically easy for abuse to occur, and it's almost hard for a worker to behave in a humane fashion, lest they be suspected of being a plant.

38. You're on a website that will demand Guantanamo closed
and then turn right around and advocate subjecting convicts to the worst psychological torture and dehumanizing acts known to man.

Don`t want the nightmare of a tough prison then don`t set a bomb to indiscriminately kill and maim dozens.
The bottom line really is one thing, they want the worst, most evil beings alive somehow voting for dumbocrats and one can`t do that as a felon.

It's trite but true: Can't do the time? Don't do the crime!
Perchance is this DU thread apropos of the conviction of the Boston Marathon bomber? I'd like to think that the idiots drooling sympathy for these inmates might think a little differently if one of their family members or friends had been killed or had a leg blown off there near the race finish area. But I have serious doubts many such DU folk have that much humanity.
-
A helpful hint for the DUmmies: People who do not engage in criminal activities have a much lower chance of going to a Supermax than those who commit crimes.
It is really that simple. You buys your ticket, you takes the ride.
-
I wonder if the UN folk would ban DU if I redefine torture to include DU's existence and drivel ...

Yes,yesterday there were a few threads about what prison should be like and also what the little pukes sentence should be.

I wonder if F4lconF16 has ever spent time in a Supermax prison in order to be qualified to speak on the conditions in a Supermax?

Think about the way the DUmpmonkeys describe Thanksgiving dinners and family reunions; and the way they talk about their parents, brothers, sisters, neighbors, businesses with Fox News on the TV, and the occasional co-worker or boss.
The next time a jihadi sets off a bomb in an American subway or school, the DUmmies will open the window to Mommy's basement and give the Moslem duck call.

I expect the folks standing around in Lafayette Park will hear the same thing.

Let me guess: It's expected that secret liberal hero and Rolling Stone cover star Dzhokhar Tsarnaev (Aka the surviving Boston Marathon Bomber) will find his sorry butt in a Supermax prison now that he's been convicted? It would certainly explain why the DUmmies are suddenly so concerned about the conditions in Supermax.

Especially considering that Supermax prisons are intended for the absolute worst of the worst inmates, who posed threats to national or international security outside of prison walls and posed the highest security risks within the prison walls. It's not like you'd find yourself in Supermax just for getting caught with a baggie of pot or shoplifting a pack of gum or something.

Death row isn't at Supermax so this will not be an issue for Tsarnaev.
-
Now that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has been convicted he can move on to finding a groupie to marry and also eventually writing that book or possibly sell a few paintings he will get to create while finishing his degree in prison.
Wait for the endless lawsuits to be filed because his koran was touched or his basketball is not properly inflated.
He is in no danger of the death penalty with a jury made up of Mass residents.
What really pis$es me off is that we funded the entire family with schooling, welfare, EBT, WIC and most likely our money was used to purchase his bomb making supplies.
Now to add insult to injury we are going to ask the grievously wounded to pay for his legal defense, food, cable TV ,internet, health care, sex change operations, clothing etc. while he lives out the rest of his days behind bars as a hero continuing to stick it to us every chance he gets.

Fixured a little.

I sincerely hope that is true, but doubt it.
Everyone there richly deserves horrific living conditions.
DUmp democrats still believe in rehabilitation of vicious criminals.
DUmp democrats also believe bouncy tales.

I don't give a flying ****! These people aren't there because they let their dog poop on their neighbor's lawn. Beat them every damn day! Minimum medical care. Those who deserve the death penalty but get life? No TV, Internet, very minimal access to the exercise yard. Limited visitation. And the rapists...let the women they raped cut their nuts off. No anesthesia.

I saw a TV show on that prison. That is a very nasty prison. I'm sure it is a step up from the gulags though.

No prison can hold the coach. He can walk through walls. That's how he got the check from the Johns Hopkins mail room.

:rotf: and H-5, d508 and Ptarm! :rotf: That went perfect with my AM coffee!
Did some one find La Furry Loca?

and people that don't break laws typically don't get pulled over by cops. That might be a bs law the cop uses to pull you over but it's still a law.
