It's almost one of the those uh...duh! moments. A confederate memorial will have 32 'rebel' flags around it. Eh...

The Sons of Confederate Veterans, the group behind the $50,000-memorial, just ordered the custom-made flag poles, said Marshall Davis, Texas Division spokesman. The group has been raising money for the project for two years and construction has moved along as fund have allowed.
The thirteen columns that represent the states that fought on the side of the Confederacy during the Civil War already stand north of the interstate off Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The group will add eight flags as soon as the poles come in – though Davis can't estimate when that will be – and the remaining flags will be added in increments of eight as funds allow until all 32 stand around the circular monument, Davis said.
Each flag with have a nameplate and history of the flag.
Locals whose ancestors fought in the Confederate Army or Navy also contributed to the memorial by purchasing bricks at $50, $300 and $500 and benches at $800, according to the group's website.
So these are either CSA National flags, State Flags or historic Battle flags? OK... I guess that would make some sense. I am sure it'll piss off alot of people.

2. They want a war, they want to own black people. All these teaparty ****s want is a civil war so they can own black people again. They want to own people. And according to the FBI 3 out of the top 4 terrorist concerns in America are AMERICAN homegrown rightwing terrorism. Cant find the chart right now but it was on "Vice" and "Vice" tells it like it is.
It's true! I just can't find it right now... (try looking in the Southern Poverty Law Review)

You wouldn't believe how many Deep South Republicans believe that if the Confederacy were to return they'd suddenly become modern-day Rhett Butlers and Scarlett O'Haras - at the expense of certain folks of color, of course. It rarely dawns on them most white Southerners were dirt poor in the Antebellum South - often even more so than slaves, who were at least someone's property.
This isn't to say all white Southerners feel that way (on the contrary); but those who disagree typically keep quiet, for fear of being ostracized. The easiest way to get along in today's Deep South is usually to go to church at least twice a week (preferably Baptist), vote for the most racist candidate; and every now and then, whistle Dixie.
:rotf: What a shitty bouncy.

8. And of course...there's a particular and non-racist reason the SCV *had* to put their monument next to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. - which, as the link upthread will show, is in a lightly-built-up part of Orange.
is it.... becuase the president is black?

They challenged the license plate. Why not the monument?
Update: I just learned this is private property so Texas can't avoid it.

Well, this is certainly something I've never seen here before; the link used as the title.

26. The Sons of Confederate Veterans seems to be an advocay group that engages
in "heritage defense" and tries to prevent "heritage violations". It’s also connected to the League of the South.
Here’s an article from the Southern Poverty Law Center on the Sons of Confederate Veterans(written by Mark Potok on Feb 11, 2011):
Once Again, Racism Rears Up in the Sons of Confederate Veterans
For much of the last decade, the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) has been roiled by an internal civil war between racial extremists and those who want to keep the Southern heritage group a kind of history and genealogy club.
It’s beginning to look like the racists won.
First came the news, originally reported on this blog last August, that the SCV was planning a Feb. 19 march down Dexter Avenue here in Montgomery, Ala., to “CELEBRATE THE BEGINNING OF THE CONFEDERACY†and ensure that it “is remembered and portrayed in the right way.†What the SCV meant by “the right way†was made obvious by its website promoting the event, which insists that “the South was right!†and claims that “there is no difference between the invasion of France by Hitler and the invasion of the Southern states by Lincoln.â€
And now, from the Mississippi Division of the SCV, comes this new gem: The group wants the state to issue a special license plate, keyed like the Montgomery march to the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, to honor Confederate Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest — a millionaire Memphis slave trader before the war, an apparent war criminal who presided over the massacre of surrendering black prisoners at Fort Pillow, Tenn., during it, and the first national leader of the Ku Klux Klan afterward, when the Klan’s terrorist violence paved the way to a Jim Crow South.
I couldn't help but notice that the DUmmie forgot to mention that Nathan Bedford Forrest was a Democrat.

"They want a war, they want to own black people. All these teaparty ****s want is a civil war so they can own black people again. They want to own people."
Huh. That certainly is news to me. I attended two Tea Party rallies a few years ago, and I have no desire whatsoever for a civil war or for reinstating slavery, and none of the speakers there, fellow Tea Partiers there, or people I personally know who have attended Tea Party rallies have expressed any desire for either of those things, either.
Why, you'd almost think that NJNP is just a lying, race- baiting nutcase who knows absolutely nothing about Tea Partiers or their beliefs, and is so psychotically obsessed with skin color that he/she will make up any kind of lie possible in order to slanderously accuse those who disagree with him/her of racism.
But, of course, that COULDN'T be the case, could it?

If anybody owns anybody, it's blacks owning white liberals.

" And according to the FBI 3 out of the top 4 terrorist concerns in America are AMERICAN homegrown rightwing terrorism."
Is that why almost every single act of terrorism or mass murder in America over the last few years or so has been committed by either a Muslim extremist or a far- left nutjob who holds views that most of the DUmmies agree with?

Do Dummies really consider every Confederate soldier as evil slave-owners?
Weren't many just defending their homes?
And I say this as someone who has an ancestor who died fighting in the Civil War for the North...

Nope. I just want to quit having the government take my money to give to others. Pretty much the exact opposite. I don't want to be owned and in my area I pay more than 55% taxes. That's slavery and it's not enough for them.

They're greedy and conditioned to see "general" welfare as "individual" welfare. The government wasn't writing checks to individuals for food or housing until FDR.
Gummint welfare has been the best vote-buying program of the last 70 years.

This is the dumbest shit I've ever seen. You idiots put a HUGE portion on the dole and I don't want to pay for them NOW! They should work for their own damn sustenance. "I" want them as slaves? So I have to pay for their food AGAIN? Yeah, makes ALL the sense in the world. :whatever:

No we want black people to be free, not slaves to the Democrat Party as they are now.

Not one ****ing person in MS wants to have slaves running around. Slaves cost money. Purchasing a slave back then is the equivalent of 45K today. All farms are pretty much automated these days. Dumbasses. As for poor folk fighting for the Civil War, IT'S BECAUSE WE WERE INVADED BY A Damn SLAVE-HOLDING NATION! SLAVERY WAS NOT THE REASON!

NO THANK YOU!
I will wait for robots, if you don't mind.

That was indeed the case. Robert E. Lee himself was initially offered the opportunity to lead the Union Army, but turned it down and led the Confederate Army for that very reason.

They also seem to forget that blacks also owned slaves. If I remember correctly the very first true slave (not indentured servant) in the US was owned by a black man.
According to an article I read several years back from Amnesty International slavery is still ongoing in places in Africa.
-

They not only owned them, almost all of the actual slavers who captured them were either Black or Arab...who then sold most of them to middlemen, who were primarily from countries speaking English, Spanish, or Portuguese.

Yes, they most certainly did...

That is also correct. Freed indentured servant, Anthony Johnson, set a precedent when he successfully sued to "keep" indentured servant John Casor as his servant for life even though John Casor had committed no crime (other indentured servants were help in perpetual labor as punishment for crimes - see John Punch).
Again the narrative fails to fit the facts; not that such silly things as "facts" matter to libtards.

It's a lot simpler in West Virginia.
All that stuff is named after Robert C. Byrd.

This pisses me off, about how the history of slavery's portrayed.
I'm not excusing anybody who ever indulged in slaving, but Africans seem to be overlooked when it comes to the blame game.
Most, if not nearly all, slaves brought to the western hemisphere came from western Africa.
The Portuguese and the English had forts on the coast of western Africa; they didn't dare venture any further inside that continent until the late 1800s, decades after slavery had been abolished.
There was a reason; those of European derivation couldn't handle the climate or the terrain.
That's why, incidentally, in the British colonial empire, its colonies in western Africa were among the first granted independence; they wanted rid of them, as they'd never been able to establish themselves, as they had in southern Africa and eastern Africa.
During the slave-trading era, it was Africans who brought other Africans from the interior to those coastal ports, and sold them to slaver-buyers.
