Actually, the proles are making out pretty good right now.  When the other people's (our) money runs out things won't be so sweet.  Of course a Republican will probably be in charge by then and they can blame it on them.

State Cuts Could Affect Autism Program

Read comments. Most of the ****ing idiots are blaming the newly elected republican governor for making people face reality, after decades of democratic spending.

For all the chearleading the AP has done, even they now admit owebuma has been a disaster...

The business press and the financial analysts and economists they consult continue to mostly blindly rely on the seasonally adjusted figures the government and other economic report generators hand them on a silver platter.

If these de facto stenographers had dug just a little deeper a month ago, they might have avoided the serious embarassment of predicting a level of seasonally adjusted March job growth that was only half of the quarter-million they confidently predicted.

To be clear, a refusal to let the full truth be known is also a part of the equation.

Weak reported numbers in construction spending, durable goods, factory orders, retail sales and consumer spending began arriving around the first of the year, and kept on coming virtually without interruption after that.

The business press has downplayed the relevance of these items in favor of trumpeting supposedly good jobs news and sentiment surveys not directly supported by hard numbers.

Beyond that, reporters who overemphasized the job market's alleged health allowed themselves to get lulled to sleep by how extraordinarily overstated the seasonally adjusted figure of 295,000 jobs added in February was compared to the underlying raw numbers.

It shouldn't have happened. If they had looked at the raw numbers they would have seen that February was really not that impressive:

The 'Seasonal adjustment' of February numbers seems to overlook the fact that not all Februaries are the same, and adjusting for a 'Statistical February' is almost certain to yield a misleading number when the current February is atypically warm or harsh...a statistical tool good for multi-year analysis, but not particularly useful or accurate when you are trying to figure out what direction things are going tomorrow, next week, next month, or the rest of the current year.

I don't remember any administration blaming the weather for a bad economy as much as Obama has.

Now we have another incompetent journalist weighing in on the economy, and how best to handle it...

Vaccine skeptics have a well-deserved reputation for not caring about facts, but according to American Prospect blogger Paul Waldman, many right-wing anti-taxers resemble anti-vaxxers in terms of their shaky grasp of reality.
“All the GOP presidential candidates are lining up to receive the wisdom of Arthur Laffer as they formulate their economic plans,” wrote Waldman in a Friday post.
“This is the rough equivalent of doctors seeking to lead the American College of Pediatricians competing to see which one can win the favor of Jenny McCarthy…Laffer's theory has been as thoroughly disproven as phrenology or the notion that the stars are pinholes in the blanket Zeus laid across the sky.”

Waldman referred to longtime supply-side enthusiast Laffer as “one of America's foremost economic quacks” and argued that Republicans like tax cuts not because they benefit the overall economy, but “for ideological and moral reasons…
[C]utting taxes on the wealthy actually reduces revenue,
[but that] doesn't make [Republicans] revise their belief that doing so is right and just, because that belief isn't subject to the test of evidence.”
