I just paid $1.32 for a nectarine
Advertisements [?]and that was with the customer card at the grocery store. The price without the discount would have been $1.82. Is this ridiculous or what?

1. For *one* nectarine?
See if there is an Aldi's near you. Nectarines were 25 cents each there.

7. These nectarines must have had a long and expensive ride
Or their growth was diesel-powered.

4. Actually, I bought 2 and paid $2.64 That's the most I've paid per piece of fruit unless I was buying it from a fruit stand.
Where in the Hell is undeterred shopping ?
I go to Randall's, not exactly the cheapest place in the world.
In today's mailbox ad.

This DUmmy must be buying from some hippy co-op food store. Or those nectarines are the size of grapefruit.
-
if it wasn't for the cost of gas, he would just be bitching about global warming; "it has ruined the nectarines!"
-
He must have been gonna use them for bowling balls.

Aren't nectarines a tropical fruit? So shouldn't global warming promote their growth, increasing the supply, and lowering the price?

hey, cut it out with all the facts, science, and common sense. this is global warming we are talking about; it's immune to
all that junk.

I think the majority of the nectarines we enjoy are grown in California. That's sub-tropical if you stretch it.

I paid $4.00 for an apple last summer ...... of course I was in Disney World but I still paid it.

Nectarines are just fuzzless peaches, they're members of the same species, so nectarines would grow anywhere peaches grow. So no, not really tropical, although they may very well grow in tropical climes.

Actually, I was thinking of Tangerines. So yeah, my bad.

I bought a quart of peaches today for $4.50 from a farmer I know, at the Albany Farmer's Market at the Empire State Plaza in Albany. He was selling them as fast as he could refill the quart containers. (He also had these golden plums which are pretty good, too, and he was selling them hand-over-fist.)

13. I just paid $5.41 for 4 apples - which my aged mother believes she absolutely has to have.
Another DUmmy. Can't shop for freakin' produce, but they'll tell you all about how the world should be run.
Apples are in season (or they were a couple weeks ago). I can buy a pound for $1.29 and I have six different types to choose from.
-
At that price, they must have been organic nectarines. That organic stuff is really expensive here.
Georgia peaches were at Food City on Saturday for 85 cents/lb.
I didn't pay much attention to the nectarines the other day, but last time I did, they were less than 1.50/lb.

Ahh, but are they organic and fertilized with human waste? :-)

Grown on a geniune commune, picked by real hippies, and lovingly packaged in 100% biodegradable containers.

I just paid the same amount for a whole pineapple. A pain in the ass to cut up and peel, but much better than the canned syrupy junk.

You know, if our store wanted $1.32 for a nectarine, I wouldn't buy it. DUH!! :lmao:
-
A DUmbass and his allowance are soon parted.
-
I feel the DUmmie is lying. Either that or the cashier could immediately tell that he was a DUmmie and decided to pocket some change.
-
If you buy an apple or something at Subway it is about $1.30 and at a local coffee shop all the fruit is $1 each.
I'm rich so when I buy apples at the store I never pay attention to how much they are and I never buy only one so I am not sure what they cost there but I am pretty sure it is well under the premium Subway and the coffee shop charges.
I'm thinking if the DUmmie went to a regular grocery store it would be less expensive. I've never been to Beverly Hills but I heard the apples at the Aldis there start at like $2,400 but they are also gold plated and diamond studded.
I've also heard there are like these pears that are $5 each but from people who've eaten them, I have heard they are worth every penny.

No,apparently it isn`t ridiculous because that would seem to be the market value....after all you were willing to pay it and did.
Economics is what it is called.

Actually, here in the pacific northwest (we are to apples what Florida is to oranges) our apples won't be ready until late fall so apples are a bit more expensive, depending on variety.

"Nectarine"- You know, that kindda sounds like DUmmies putting something around their neck, shutting off blood to the brain and getting on a cheap high. ......and if it were and they had a high enough fatality rate, I'd give'em away.

I used to think I didn't like pineapple because I had only ever had it in a can. Then few years ago I bought a juicer and decided to try juicing pineapple juice for it's digestive properties and what a revelation!
The stuff that comes in cans should be allowed to be called "pineapple" because it bears little resemblance to the actual pineapple.
