CLAIBORNE COUNTY, Miss. - A death investigation is underway in Claiborne County after body was found Thursday.

The coroner said there was a hanging in the county.

Sheriff Marvin Lucas said they found a body on Old Rodney Road in Port Gibson.

Authorities have not released the name of the person found.

MBI and the FBI are investigating.

The Claiborne County Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is asking the U.S. Department of Justice to step in and investigate as well.

We have a crew headed to the scene. We will update this story as more details become available.

Bullshit. DUmmies couldn't be happier that a black man was found hanging from a tree in Mississippi. Well, that isn't true. They would be happier if a burning cross had been found at the scene.

Lynching by cop just wasn't enough for the racists.

And it will never be enough for them until every black in this country is either dead, a slave, or in prison.

So charged...and white retrogrades and their fury, are unhidden these days.

So, until I see otherwise, this is the simplest explanation.

A few DUmmies want to wait on the facts. but most are ready to blame some racist cracker.

You would THINK after the DUmmies jumping to the wrong conclusion EVERY SINGLE TIME they would start saying "I'm going to wait til more facts are known".

Anyone catch his name is James Byrd?  wasn't that the black guy in Texas that WAS murdered by racists?

I do see he was a convicted murderer that didn't serve his sentence for capital murder, got paroled.  My immediate conclusion is 1) maybe someone felt their relative didn't get justice 2) was coming home from a casino when he went missing (did he win?) 2) suicide.

Just a note for the Cavers inside.
The body's hands were NOT tied.
Talk of lynching please set aside.
If the hands aren't tied, its suicide.

According to the Mississippi Department of Corrections, Byrd spent a little over 25 years in prison for the Feb. 1980 murder of Lucille Trim in Claiborne County. Records show he robbed her of $101. He was convicted of capital murder on October 28, 1980, and was paroled Nov. 2, 2006.

Autopsy suggests suicide in hanging of black man in Mississippi

Source: LA Times

Preliminary results from an autopsy on the body of Otis Byrd, whose body was found hanging from a tree in rural Mississippi, strongly suggest the death was a suicide rather than foul play, a federal law enforcement official said Friday.

...

Claiborne County Sheriff Marvin Lucas told the Los Angeles Times that while a bedsheet was wrapped around the man’s neck, there were no other visible signs of distress on the body. The man’s hands and feet were not tied or bound, his mouth was not gagged, there were no other outward signs of injuries.

...

The sheriff said the man, a riverboat employee, was last seen around March 2 when he and a family member visited a local casino. He said Byrd returned home with someone else, whom the sheriff identified as a friend.

4. They just cant help themselves, the civil war has now moved into lynching.

I wonder what Malcolm X would say about now?

There has to be a severe and angry response to this, somehow.

ALL African Americans need to arm themselves with as many guns and bullets as they can get.

If they cant afford it the US Government should provide for them.

Either that or take these racist mother****ers out with prejudice and right ****ing now.

18. Do you have some reason to think the finding is wrong? If this is a murder that is being covered up as a suicide, it would have to be a spectacular conspiracy. The FBI, medical examiner, local police, and who knows who else would have to be involved and on the same page to pull off a cover up like that.

it would have to be a VRWC or something...

20. Suicide? Seriously?

Full disclosure: I identify Mississippi as home. I wasn't born there, but I'm a military brat whose old man was stationed at Keesler. I lived there from age 6 to 19, so for all intents and purposes, it's home.

This just makes me sick at heart. Based on what little we know now, this doesn't strike me as suicide. For one thing, the lack of a chair/stool near the body should make it pretty obvious suicide is an unlikely option at best. Yeah, he might've climbed up onto the tree limb and then jumped down... except a "rope" made of tied bedsheets likely wouldn't have stood up to the strain of a falling body.

Hopefully the cops there are using their heads for something other than their hats. If the sheets didn't come from his home or weren't just purchased (i.e., have skin cells or hair or other material traces indicating they're not brand new), that's another strike against the suicide theory. I just don't buy it.

It hurts to say that, too. I love Mississippi in a lot of ways. I knew a lot of great people there. I knew (and know) that there are ugly parts of the state and the South in general, but living on the Coast, things seemed better there. That this sort of thinking persists in the 21st century never ceases to floor me. That people act on this sort of thinking is just sad and disgusting.

I hope the authorities don't shrug their shoulders and carry on with business as usual. If this poor man was murdered, he and his family deserve the full measure of justice, and whoever killed him deserves the full measure of justice.

noob

Don't much care whether it's a suicide or a murder, provided if it's the latter - whether by a black thug(s) or a white thug(s) - the murderer(s) enters prison by jury and exits prison (after a brief stay) by pine box.

Was Mississippi black man's death suicide or homicide?

Byrd spent more than 25 years in prison for the February 1980 murder of Lucille Trim in Claiborne County, according to Mississippi Department of Corrections records. He robbed her of $101, was convicted of capital murder Oct. 28, 1980, and was paroled Nov. 2, 2006.

Trim is the mother of Martha Rainville, the first woman in the history of the National Guard to serve as a state adjutant general when she became adjutant general in Vermont in 1997. Rainville now lives in Virginia and is married to the Paul McHale, a former Pennsylvania congressman and a former assistant secretary of defense.

Otis Byrd murdered Lucille Trim in 1980 after he robbed her. He was paroled in 2006. Trim is the mother of Martha Rainville, who was first woman Adjutant General.

I wonder if this could be money related.

Quote
A friend last saw him March 2, when he dropped Byrd off at a casino 30 miles north in Vicksburg.

Must of had a huge loss that time. It could be he owed money to someone and was angry at him.

Had to dig this back up because the media and the libs have been eerily silent on it so I'm guessing the guy committed suicide because his autopsy has been given to the family and no screams of him being murdered.  Will they ever learn?

Quote
JACKSON, Miss. -- The FBI says it has discussed autopsy results with the family of a black man found hanging from a tree in Mississippi.

However, investigators are not saying when they will publicly release the information or whether they consider the death of 54-year-old Otis Byrd to be homicide or suicide.

****
Attorney Dennis Sweet III says family members do not believe Byrd died by suicide. They say the results of the autopsy weren't enough.

I could be wrong, but taking this much time - and the BHO/Holder FBI is part of the investigation - feels more consistent with doing due diligence before ruling it a suicide. That the family has brought in independent investigators - or at least have said they have done so - is similarly suggestive that the FBI, MS, and local law enforcement are leaning toward ruling it a suicide.

I think if there is any intentional foot dragging, it isn't to stir up more race issues, but to allow the story to fall off the news cycle - suggesting there is abundant evidence this was a suicide.

If they wanted to make hay about this, there would be interviews and specialists inside the newsrooms of all of the Obama's best friends with charts and data to fuel it. Instead there is nothing at all.
