Planet Fitness cancels woman's membership after her complaints of transgender woman in locker room
"MIDLAND, MI -- A Midland County woman's gym membership was canceled after she refused to stop telling fellow gym members "a man" was using the woman's locker room.
Yvette Cormier said the incident occurred Saturday, Feb. 28, when she entered the women's locker room at the Planet Fitness location at 701 Joe Mann Boulevard in Midland.
"I was blocked, because a man was standing there," Cormier said. "It freaked me out because, why is a man in here?"
Cormier said an employee at the front desk told her that the individual identifies as a woman.
After taking her complaints to Planet Fitness' corporate office, Cormier said she was told that the gym was a "no judgment zone" and they would not tell the individual in question to stay out of the women's locker room. The person has not been identified..."

What happened is that a man walked into the women's locker room. The woman who was already in the locker room correctly identified a male-bodied person as a man, and objected, which is exactly what one should expect in such a situation. We have sex-segregated spaces that involve partial or total nudity specifically to protect women from male violence, which, if you haven't noticed, remains extremely common all over the world.
Are you seriously applauding a woman being punished for recognizing a male body when she sees it and knowing that a male body is a threat to her wellbeing, especially when that man has already indicated he has no respect for women's boundaries by forcing his way into a space where they are supposed to be safe from men? What kind of gaslighting bullshit is this? "Pay no attention to the dangling genitals! I IDENTIFY as a woman, so you're a bigot for even thinking my male anatomy is male."
Honestly, some of you are so confused about such fundamental aspects of reality that I can't imagine how you function in daily life. Use your heads, people. Do you seriously not understand what is wrong with telling women they're crazy for thinking that creatures with penises are male?
Eventually this kind of stupidity is going to destroy what remains of the political left in this country, and you're willing participants in that destruction when you allow yourself to be distracted by this kind of foolishness instead of the urgent and essential concerns of politics: economic issues. Politics is not about men pretending to be women. It's all about how resources are distributed. And while you halfwits are demanding that men in dresses be accepted as women because they say they "feel like" women, we are slipping back into a feudal system that makes serfs of the 99%. This is, of course, exactly what the 1% want. They want you distracted by bullshit so you can't fight them on the issues that actually matter.
Go ahead and ban me. I am so sick of this reality-denying nonsense from people who should know better. All the threads we have on DU about the stupidity of science-deniers, and yet somehow, it's considered bigotry to know that possessors of male bodies are actually men.
I'm done. There are few, if any, serious thinkers on this site. I hope some of you eventually grow up and learn to think clearly.

90. If you were a father and you took your 8 year old to the ladies', and a person who appeared
to be male went in the restroom ahead of her, would you allow your 8 year old to be there alone with that person, or would you tell your 8 year old to wait till the person came out?
Or if you were standing outside the ladies', waiting for your daughter to come out, would it be fine with you if a man (or a person who appeared to be a man) walked in?

I am simply speechess. If you read through the comments following some of the articles, you will realize that we are lost. the sheer number of people who think this is perfectly acceptable, and anyone who is offended by a MAN in a WOMEN'S locker room is a bigot/transphobe/homophobe is shocking.

When I was still in the Navy , there were some Navy wives including our O-5 Co's wife, who were all about equal rights and equal opportunity, equal pay for equal work.
The same old use the military as a social experiment argument.
One of the best ways to quiet such talk at some social event was to agree with them and declare that all locker rooms, showers, bathrooms, and staterooms be open to both sexes without restriction.
That usually shuts them up.

I have read coments on news articles. I had to take a long shower with industrial strength bleach. It still does not wash off. They should be institutionalized. We should of never deinstitutionalized crazy people.

I'm guessing that in the future there will have to be at least 3 restrooms marked....Male...female....other.

Or just some separate unisex one-holers for everyone to use...for any place that doesn't need to have showers or a locker room, anyway. I don't really see how a gym or a pool can ever make it work.

How about in place of Male/Female we just put XX or XY on the door. No ambiguity and no excuses/exceptions.
