Dems run away from Obamacare penalty they imposed

Quote
The Democrats who wrote and passed the Affordable Care Act were sure of two things: The law had to include a mandate requiring every American to purchase health insurance, and it had to have an enforcement mechanism to make the mandate work. Enforcement has always been at the heart of Obamacare.

Now, though, enforcement time has come, and some Democrats are shying away from the coercive measures they themselves wrote into law.

The Internal Revenue Service is the enforcement arm of Obamacare, and with tax forms due April 15, Americans who did not purchase coverage and who have not received one of the many exemptions already offered by the administration are discovering they will have to pay a substantial fine. For a household with, say, no kids and two earners making $35,000 a piece, the fine will be $500, paid at tax time.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record,

Obamacare is affecting retired vets and spouse's too. My hubby served his 20 years supposed to get free health care for life for his self and for me his wife. Since we live so far from a base we are not allowed to have Tricare Prime anymore we now have for me Tricare standard. He is over 65 so he has Medicare and Tricare for life.

He never had to pay a penny before Obamacare went into effect. Now anything that medicare will not pay...Tricare will not pay..Also he has to pay around $125.00 a month for medicare.

As for me I used to pay a $15.00 co pay when I went to the doctor, no bills for medical test and a small fee if I was admitted to the hospital. Now I have to pay $21.86 copay for dr visits and 20% of everything else.

I don't know how owebuma's owebumacare lies can just be limited to 5...

Everything he said about owebumacare was a lie from the get go.

Was trying to find the right thread for this; hope its okay to post here.

One lone Louisianan, Senator Vitter, attempting to call out the hypocrisy of his fellow Congressional colleagues & not having too much luck.  For 2 years he has tried to "kill the federal health care contribution, worth several thousand dollars to lawmakers & their staffers." More recently, last month "he tried to subpoena documents to investigate how members of Congress & their aides became eligible for health care under Obamacare's D.C.exchange."
Lawmakers & staffers simply reinvented themselves as a small business, & qualified under the small-business exchange.
     http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/on-small-business/more-than-12000-congressional-staffers-have-enrolled-in-health-plans-through-obamacare/2014/02/20/de767f38-9a28-11e3-b931-0204122c514b_story.html

Key point.  Look at how elitist Senator Burr states Vitter's efforts are disingenuous to taxpayers, because "the result is going to raise people's salary to compensate them for what they're not getting for coverage for health care."

Are ya'll not taken back by this?  Personally, for my family, our deductibles went up significantly, & our coverage went way down.  So there are some of us who didn't benefit from O-care are experiencing hardships under this law.  So, Senator Burr, why would us taxpayers have to increase congressional staff & legislators salaries if their health care costs go up under a law which the R's continue to fund & expand.

Legislators in general and lib legislators in particular follow one rule...
What's good for me is not for thee,
And what's good for thee is not for me.

So true, politicians pick & choose the laws they wish to follow.

Since we're still on Obamacare, besides being the largest tax ever, its looking like the biggest loser ever.
This time to the tune of $205,342,270...a taxpayer giveaway to structure Hawaii's state exchange.
Total taxpayer funds for all state exchanges have rung up nearly $4.5 billion.
Back to Hawaii:  "Despite this generous funding, the exchange has underperformed from day one."
Add to all of those wasted monies, it'll cost an additional $30 million "so that Hawaii can migrate to the federal system."  & ya'll know, it'll probably go over that.

"Hawaii now joins Oregon, Massachusetts, Maryland, Vermont, New Mexico, and Nevada as cautionary tales in government central planning. With so many failed state exchanges, questions need to be asked about the haphazard allocation of billions of dollars in taxpayer funds and the complete lack of oversight."  Ya think?  Not in this administration.

All this throw away money kind of reminds me of those stimulus dollars & shovel ready jobs.  But that's another story.

Another failure of centralized planning.
