The last we heard from our good friend Tobin was that he wasn't looking for a job but if one came around that was better he'd take it. Shit, I am in the same oat as poor ol' overall wearing Tobin! If some schmuck offered me a better paying job than this one I am the **** out of here!
BUT- Tobin didn't get the job.

The interview went well....at least I think it did :)
This is in reference to this thread ---> http://www.democraticunderground.com/1018716319
I felt better in the interview than I thought I would. I was a little nervous before I went in, but after the guy welcomed me in I was comfortable for the most part...relaxed and confident.
I did not get an offer, which I guess doesn't usually happen anyway at an interview, and he told be several times that he didn't have a position available at the moment. I knew that coming into the interview. He sounded almost apologetic about it. But I went into the interview with the idea that if I made a good impression it could turn into something good in the future. I'm sure they were just scouting talent and I hope I made the list of people they'd like to call if they need someone.
It was a good experience and good practice if nothing else comes out of it at all.

2. Sounds good to me, my dear Tobin!
Just the fact that he wanted to interview you, even though he had told you there weren't any openings now, is very promising. VERY.
I would be very encouraged if I were you.
I'm pretty sure you're on that list.
Congrats!
CALPEG, first to offer kind words... not that any are needed.

4. Thank you. I'm going to stay all dressed up in my suit and take Jen out to dinner.
Before I bought nice clothes, I was afraid I would find them very uncomfortable after years of dressing like a trucker. Now I don't want to take them off! Hopefully, I'll get to dress like this all the time in the near future.

7. Yay!! What a great experience. And who knows, this is how connections start. By taking this step now, you've made an important friend who may refer you on...
Very true. You should be doing five or six interviews a week, making connections, getting your face out there. The more you do the better your chances are, my dear Tobin.

Rarely if ever is someone hired at an "interview". Especially when one says they had to wear a suit & tie.
Me thinks Tobin is making up the whole thing.

Someone correct me is I am wrong but isn`t it universally standard procedure to let a person fill out an application and then tell them you will keep it in a file and contact them if there is an opening?
-
And...correct me if I'M wrong...but does the business that Tobie applying for run by people that {{{GASP!!}}} want to make a PROFIT?? Hence any chance, however miniscule already on Tobin's part, doesn't even EXIST without said desire for profit?

I was wondering why they would take time out to interview him if there wasn't a position. I don't know about you but I don't have time to interview people for a postion that is non-existent.

The whole interview is/was non-existent, Gina.

I suspect it was a mock interview designed to build interview skills and not for an actual position. I also suspect he failed miserably. :cheersmate:
