So have we got any comments on Bergdahl getting a charge of desertion? :-)

3. I think the WH 'influence' that counts was Pres. Obama's intervention getting the soldier back home
. . . in the first place.
This is almost certainly an entirely military-driven decision to prosecute, imo. I could stand some WH 'interference' asking for leniency based on Sgt. Berghdal's ordeal of imprisonment.
Ordeal meaning kicking back with his buddies with a bag of chips and shooting American soldiers and enjoying "Donkey Rape" Tuesdays

4. There's no question he had to be brought home. You don't leave your
soldier as a captive in the hands of the enemy, period--especially since Bergdahl was pretty clearly mentally or emotionally troubled. But no, the White House should not interfere with the investigation or judicial process once he's back in the Army's hands. If the WH wants to, it can eventually pardon Bergdahl if he's convicted of anything, that's their right.
Not really a captive if you leave your post and go looking for the Taliban
----
and it all spirals into conspiracy theories from there

Their treatment of Ernst vs their treatment of this deserting asshole, who got many troops killed looking for his sorry ass, should tell you everything you know about these Damn anti-American pricks. :censored:

No decision made yet. Obama is still being sheltered by leftists he put in power in the military.

Pentagon Calls Bergdahl Reports (by Fox and NBC) 'Patently False', Rear Admiral: "Let me put a fork in it".
Opinion: Fox manufactured another lie, NBC got fooled into running it, and now they got what they wanted, a response from the Pentagon calling them liars, now they have a news cycle.
It is a media circus going on, the MSM is an unreliable source of actual information.

9. Shaffer a rogue.
Wrote a book called "Operation Dark Heart" which should have put him in jail. Gave up lots of classified info, later redacted by the NSA and the DIA. Also 'reported' that the President watched the attacks in Benghazi from some secure location.
What's really up with this guy?

18. The fake Fox story would have gone nowhere without NBC doing copy without calling the Pentagon.
How does that happen?
Ex-Fox news producer from Fox 7 Austin, the late young man Phillip Perea, killed himself yesterday with a shot to the chest in front of Fox News HQ in Manhattan to try to explain how that could happen and does happen in American media every day.
He can tell it better than me.

20. MSNBC reported on this during Alex Wagner's 4pm hour and confirmed this story is false
And that no decision has yet been made. They got this from The Pentagon...
Everyone knows the little ****stick deserted to the enemy. It's the administration trying to do damage control pressuring the DOD not to make a call in dealing with the traitor.

The AP and NBC had the story before Fox News did.

He threw in with sworn enemies of the USA.
That automatically makes you a hero at the DUmp.
Not so long ago I had a somewhat neutral view of these mutants but over the last few years I have grown to despise every last cell in their bodies and truly wish they would start the revolution they yearn for.
It would come to a swift conclusion.

Is that some sort of gang sign that Badr is flashing in that photo?
-
All of the people in his unit called him a deserter as well. I guess that's not good enough for the Dump.

Soldiers who avoid deployment or leave posts in combat zones are more serious cases, particularly if the deserter is responsible for standing guard or protecting others in dangerous places.
"Those are looked at very harshly," said Rinckey, now a partner with the Washington law firm Tully Rinckey, "because commanders have a unit of other people who are looking at that soldier and saying, 'I don't want to go either,' so obviously there has to be an example made."
Bergdahl deliberately walked away, an initial U.S. military investigation found in 2009 based on available evidence. Since his release, some who served with him have called him a deserter and said he should be held accountable for leaving his post. Others have said troops were put in danger, and even killed, as they searched for Bergdahl.
The maximum punishment for desertion during a time of war is death. That outcome is highly unlikely. Only one service member, Pvt. Eddie Slovik, was executed for desertion since the Civil War. Slovik, 24, was shot by a firing squad in January 1945. His execution, approved by then-Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, was kept secret by the Army until nine years later.

Yes, there has to be an example made. But will it....... ?

There were two MoH"s awarded (Carter and Romashea) because of the intel he provided days after his desertion that allowed 300 Taliban fighters to overrun COP Keating.

I'm sure there's a charge sheet floating around on him. I haven't been following it, but it they did an Article 32 investigation, charges would have been preferred first. However, I believe the investigation that they refer to is not the UCMJ Article 32 one, but an administrative investigation under AR 15-6.
Technically, the Pentaweenies can hide behind the fact that charges, even if already preferred, have not been referred to a court-martial right up until that final step happens. You really can't take anything coming out of the five-sided funhouse at face value, there are always a lot of very particular jargon usages and highly-technical distinctions involved in their seemingly-straightforward press releases.

Works for me. Can I get in on that detail? I'm sure that the waiting list is miles long on that.

Looks pretty happy to be there, unlike the paratroopers who were forced to try and find his worthless, oxygen-thieving ass.
His article 32 hearing should be done by now, but of course it was delayed for political expediency.
God we have some eunuchs in charge over at the Pentagon now. Marshall is spinning in his grave.

Deserted his post. :rulez:
