I worked a military charter this afternoon bringing some troops home from Wisconsin to Louisiana.
I've seen the excitement when we bring troops home from Iraq, but this was unreal.
There was a big crowd.

Governer Bobby Jindal shook each soldiers hand when they got off the plane.

Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden? and LSU Head coach Les Miles were also in line.

By the time it was all done the flight attendants were bawling and I admit I might
have had a tear or two myself.
I had a very good day today. :)

McCoy?
-
That is very cool. :)
-
Why was this locked?
-
Not locked anymore. I think a mod may have been trying to move it.
-
BTW, if it was at McCoy, I did a field exercise there for 3 weeks. We chartered two Southwest 737's who did round-trips to pick everyone up at Ft. Gordon. The cool part was, it was the first field exercise I went to that I didn't have to sleep in a f'n tent and on a cot. :-)

We were bringing them back from Volk Field (Camp Douglas) according to my Mission briefing.

Very cool, that's a pretty awesome crowd too.
I've been to DFW once to welcome soldiers back from Iraq. It's very moving.

I would be a bawling mess. I get teary eyed when I just see a member of our Military when I'm out and about. Once we were in a Jason's Deli and there was a group of about 5 or 6 eating at the table next to me. I started getting tears in my eye. My husband asked me what was wrong and I said I couldn't tell him right then. If I did I knew I would start crying. I told him after we left, he thinks I'm a mental case.

No....you are just a compassionate person....

Ole Jindal met'em as well. :rocker2:
He hunts and fishes. Is it just me? Or does it seem odd to see an East Indian in RealtreeTM clothing?

Compassion. :)
BTW, I get a little teary eyed too. It was very emotional at DFW airport.

NOTE TO SELF: If you ever get to a Dallas meetup, wear your Class A's.
NOTE TO SELF(Correction): Take Class A's to the cleaners to have them altered, THEN wear your Class A's to the next meeting.

BEG-me too. The last 5 years of going to watch the city's fireworks show, I start crying, thinking of our Military and at the end of the show, I stand up with both fists in the air and yell "Thank you God for our troops and watch over them"!!!!!! Then I feel a little embarrassed. But I don't care!

Great pictures, servonaut. It's refreshing to see a wholesome group of people honoring our military than to see a picture of a bunch of filthy hippies sputtering inane slogans. ;)
Hold on to that pic of Jindal, it may be worth something some day! :-)

Me too! Tell your hubby that I do it too. We're not mental :-) My hubby will stand in front of me so I can't see if he spots of uniform before I do. He'll say, "brace yourself. go shake their hand. don't cry."
We took a relative to the Vietnam wall several weeks ago. I lost it. I had to go sit down on a bench.
