New York’s Dem Assembly Speaker Arrested on Federal Corruption Charge

Sheldon Silver, the longtime Democratic speaker of the New York State Assembly, was arrested by federal authorities on Thursday, according to the New York Times.

The charges stemmed from Silver’s failure to disclose substantial payments he was receiving from a firm that specializes in getting reductions to New York City real estate taxes, according to the report.

The investigation of Mr. Silver began after Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo in March abruptly shut down an anticorruption commission he had created in 2013.

As someone whose wife works in the cesspool that is the NYS Assembly (for the Republicans), I can tell you that Bharra's most important statement of that whole press conference was his last sentence--"Stay tuned for more."  (Or words to that effect.)  Albany is full of this.

If I were Dandy Andy, I would be (quietly) lawyering-up right about now.

Saw a link on an NBC news e-mail.  No where in the story did NBC even mention what party this dude belonged to.
