If you remember a few short days ago our good friend Tobin was whining about having to take a new test to keep his CDL. Well, it seems that his attempt to remain employed didn't work out...

I'm not used to the job search circa 2015.
It's been since 1995 since I really had to work to find a job. I got a Class 'A' CDL in 1996 and have had trucking companies begging me to come drive for them since then. I haven't had to work at all to find a new job. Just a phone call usually did it.
Now I'm looking for something better than driving for a living. I've been at it for about a month. I've had two offers, but they were for companies that turned out to be terrible after I did a little research. I haven't even had a nibble from a reputable company. I also think I have been discriminated against because of my age by one company, but I don't have solid proof of that.
Some of you may be thinking that a month ain't that bad, and I would have to agree. I've heard of far worse, and I am still employed so the pressure could be a lot heavier, it's true. It's just that I've sent out applications and resumes left and right and have been looking every day for leads. I thought something would have come up by now. I've had two phone interviews from shyster companies and that's it.
Also, it used to be that you could go to a company and turn in a resume or an application in person and actually talk to somebody. I think it's to the job seekers advantage to just be able to make an appearance and get a few words in. Now everything is done online. You have no idea if anyone is even looking at your resume on the other end or if it just kind of flies off into nowhere when you hit the 'send' button.
So, Mr Tobin still 'has his job' although he is looking for a new one...
Sure. ::)

1. Hang in there, my dear Tobin! Keep at it.........and I know you are! I'd say if you didn't have any good responses in six months, then I'd be concerned. You just haven't connected yet, but you will.
You know... we haven't seen a good CALPEG poem is like... forever. But she/he/it really hasn't been very writable lately.

3. 10-4! Do you know anyone who could use a good business man? We'll relocate if the money is right.
It's cute how he uses trucker slang...

4. Alas, I don't! The cost of living would kill you both out here! Although our worst weather is nothing like your worst...
Of course- CALPEG wouldn't let you anywhere near her gated community.

6. That's some pretty good advice. It's not that I was expecting anything from a particular company, but I was, sort of, from somebody out there somewhere. So sit back and don't sweat it, eh? I'll see what I can do.
In Obama's America? You will be lucky to find a job picking beans.
BUT- here is a little something to cheer you up, my dear Tobin!

Or a kosher ham...or valuable offer...or government help...

DUmmy Tobin S. may have a problem.
It's unlikely he can interview with a job without his insanity shining through.
His loony bin posts don't paint a picture of a stable employee.

OK, I'm confused. Is he unemployed, been given 1 month notice of being laid off, or looking for a better job.
If he doesn't like pre-interview stuff, he needs to suck it up. If companies interviewed in person every person who sent in a resume' the company wouldn't have enough HR people and manglers to do that, nor enough hours in a day.

We'll relocate if the money is right.
Resume' Tip #1: proofread your resume'; even better, have another person proof it too!

As someone that deals with truck drivers every day for LTL carriers, the local pick up/delivery guys can be decent and normal.
The long haul, cross country ones (broadbrush here) are scary and often dumber then a tree stump, little more then illiterate aim and steer mutts.
Guessing Tobin has been the latter not the former.

Anyone have a guess as to how old this clown is? In another thread he claimed that he just graduated college. Perpetual student?

From memory, Tobin is in his 40s. He looks like a farmer and doesn't exactly project a corporate image, given that the fact that he is morbidly obese.

If he's doing everything online ... how could they possibly know his age??
You would think the DUmmies would be very fond of the online application process ... it levels the playing field for them. Once you've seen the DUmmie, there's now way you would hire them.

Why do I not believe this? ::)

Beggars can't be choosers, tubby.
I haven't even had a nibble from a reputable company.
B-b-b-but they were begging?

His commercial license is expiring, and he says he can't pass the physical for renewal.
Also, he cannot get hazmat clearance, maybe due to his long history of mental illness.
He's a worse truck driver than rsmithnumbers, who never learned to back up a truck without wrecking the dock.
Maybe he can move in with stewert.

Toby the Tubby failed his piss test and lost his job. Now no one wants him.
I'll betcha that any employer who calls up his old company will get an earfull of all Tobin's other work habits...like goldbricking.
