Congratulations, GOBUCKS, for a fine Ohio State team steeped in history and tradition and decades upon decades of hard luck and hard work, who overwhelmed its flash-in-the-pan newbie opponent with no history, Oregon!
Face it, Oregon's been popular the last few years only because television has decreed it so. Television's notorious for promoting the "new," the "novel," because "old" and "tried-and-true" is, you know, b-o-o-o-o-o-r-i-n-g.
When Oregon's got a history as long and remarkable as those of the plodding dull stale old Ohio State, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Southern California, UCLA, Alabama, and Auburn, then Oregon'll deserve some respect.
With all due respect to the non-Ohio State fans, and even the anti-Ohio State fans, face it; Oregon is "great" only because television says it is.
And then we have the ridiculous spectacle of Judy grasswire, born and raised and spending most of her adult life on the other side of the country from Oregon, suddenly becoming an enthusiastic fan of that team after her descendants moved her out there so as to keep better tabs on her in failing old age and mental decreptitude.
grasswire Judy's an exemplar of what ails this country today (especially as shown during the past two presidential elections); too many people attracted to the "new," the "shiny."
In case one needs reminded, brass is shiny.....and gold is dull.

Congrats to Urban Meyer who adds a 3rd national title to 2 others he earned with the Florida Gators.
Congrats to the Buckeye's starting QB who in only his 3rd start led his team to the brass ring.
Congrats to the Buckeye's running back #15 Zeke who ripped off a record chunk of rushing yards in a title game.
Congrats to the Buckeye's offensive and defensive lines who controlled the scrimmage line like indians on a covered wagon.
No love for the new playoff system though.
It allowed a 4 ranked team to beat a 1 ranked team, and then beat a 2 ranked team.
The playoff system in it's first year has proven to be a complete failure.

Despite its being a deep blue socialist state, I had nothing much against Oregon aside from all those cute outfits Phil Knight dresses them in.
Then I read the Portland newspaper, "The Oregonian", where they were calling the National Championship the "Natty". Enough said.
It's still more fun to be in Ohio Stadium during a win over Michigan, but this was pretty sweet.

Having gone to two other Big Ten schools that weren't Ohio State, and having had to put up with a co-worker who did go there and had manic-depressive episodes exactly tracking the ups and downs of any Ohio sports activity, I deeply hate Ohio State. However, I totally don't give a shit about Oregon, so it's pretty much a wash to me.

Considering I live 40 miles from the only school that beat Ohio State this year, I give the Buckeyes congrats on their national championship, and pray Ohioans get their political house in order come 2016.

People think SEC fans are obnoxious (Disclaimer, I am one); but the most obnoxious fans I've ever met have been Ohio St fans. I have a deep dislike for Ohio St.

A lot of people always hate winners. It comes with the territory.
There's a lot of similarity in how DUmmies hate decent and civilized people.
Most Buckeyes hate no one but Michigan, the embodiment of evil.

I wonder if the obnoxious cretins at Ohio State will have the class and dignity to acknowledge the fact that they had to hire the SEC coach who beat their sorry asses like a drum in their last championship appearance to be able to win this one? I think some gratitude and thanks are in order...

They probably will, after the pitiful cretins of the SEC acknowledge they have to come to Ohio to find good coaches. No thanks or gratitude required.
(Saban from Kent, Miles from Elyria, Meyer from Ashtabula. So far only Meyer has been allowed to return, and the other guys are getting too old to be candidates. It's been a long drought since Bear Bryant.)

I would concede your point, if not for the two very large holes it contains. To wit:
- Unlike Les Miles and Urban Meyer, Nick Saban is not from Ohio. He grew up in Fairmont, West Virginia.
- All three had to leave Ohio to be able to learn how to put together championship teams. No one had to "come to Ohio to find good coaches" since neither Miles nor Myers were born with a clipboard in their hands and a whistle around their necks.
Now, I admit the acknowledgement of having to hire SEC coaches that whipped their asses in championship games was a bit rhetorical; no sane person would expect a DUmmie to take responsibility for their screwed up lives just like no one can expect an obnoxious Buckeyes fan to admit the obvious. But I think the bigger question is if Ohio produces such great coaches, why can't they seem to have their talents in state until after they whack Ohio State in a championship game?

I can't stand OSU fans either, Dixie. Not to mention Ohio State fans are usually from Ohio and they cannot freaking drive worth a shit! If these fools cannot drive the least they could do is stay in their own damned state and leave the rest of us alone! :fuelfire:
