Title: DU wants 'Gentleman's C' std.
Post by: zeitgeist on January 09, 2015, 06:22:48 PM
I must say I couldn't resist bringing this over for those who might miss it.  It is the DUmp discussion of Obie's new "Free (if you work for it) Junior College.

Seems Obiewun wanted a '2.5' GPA.   No No No say the DUmmies, lets go for a 2.0.

13. I think it should only require a 2 point average. Why should these students be required

to have an above average grade point, when most of them are probably working, too?

Otherwise, I think it's a good plan that would put us closer to the educational systems in Europe.

Once again the DUmp runs to the subtle bigotry of low expectations.  Might make a great book for Wee Willy  "Low Expectations"  rather a reverse of the Dickens.

In any event take a peep at this one for some crunchy Dummy logic.
Medium blaze with a few rare primates.

One step farther.....why should they have to maintain a 2.0 or better to stay in school? I mean it's free ain't it?

49. I noticed in the Bush years, Dems can propose very good policies when they have no chance of being

enacted.

DUH.

53. Isn't that sweet

Maybe we'll see some some bipartisan support for this. After all, it makes sense for businesses, the economy, and the people. A total win-win situation for a capitalist society with a representative government. Maybe this will actually happen.

Then again, maybe bird shit will start tasting like powdered coffee creamer.

And that is why I don't use powdered creamers.

If the government money spigot requires a 2.5 GPA, you can be sure these "colleges" will cut loose with an avalanche of As and Bs. Not one government dollar will go unclaimed.

Why not just pay the fee and force the recipient colleges to give a "B" ?
Now we're up to a 3.0 average right off the bat.
And since libs are who they are, why don't we say...
I they attend every day...give them an "A" !

Did I seriously just read that? Hey dump bastion of low expectations: I am STILL maintaining a 4.0 and I'm finishing up my capstone...last class..finally: the degree. Guess what asshats: I not only work full time in my profession already which means I have real grown up responsibilities and  it just scrubbing floors for obama...I also am raising my children as a single parent one of which is disabled.  And my degree is not in any nimbly pimple feel good useless degree either. Yet a 20 year old with nothing more on thier plate but some work and college courses can't even rise to the very adequate level of a 2.5??? Maybe they should wear a protective helmet and knee pads too so life doesn't give them any other owies  while we are at it.

BTW if they even tackle useful degrees anymore many employers are looking for 3.5 and bette.  Part of this when you talk sciences, medical, finace, accounting is a competency issue  you don't want a poor student who can't meet many competing needs and show it in thier grades working with legal, time sensitive, private, et, materials  so you can set your du snowflakes up with some unrealistic commensurate to real world expectations but that's not the real world and we would end up with a lot if people with degrees they can't use because of thier lack of proof of competence all at taxpayers expense...

In my day they had College Work Study and IIRC you had to stay off academic probation (3.0).  How does this program differ from that except the lower standard?

I think this is an awesome idea!  As long as they force the liberal professors to take pay cuts to make it work like they expect doctors to with O'bamacare.

This could make a lot of conservatives out of some liberals.

13. ...

Otherwise, I think it's a good plan

Aside from the minor problem of who is going to be paying the bills for it, of course, but then I'm sure the DUmp doesn't invest any more time in thinking about little details like that than the Pretzeldent does, which is to say, none whatsoever.

Education is a wonderful thing but when will they learn how to do something?.....and be willing to do it?

yeah they still have those programs too. For the life of me I still can not understand thier problem with the GPA levels and the coddling they have of grown adults.I read stuff sometimes and I get the impression they think people who did it or are doing it without a lowered expectation are lying, cheating, or priveleged in some way. While that may certainly be the case for some,; for most others it is a matter of repriotizing one's life temporarily to meet the obligations of getting a degree and getting it well. While du wants to coddle they fail to understand this is a temporary pain and sacrifice for greater financial freedom, more options, and pride in living to one's potential. So tired of the participation trophy mentality even for adults. It's insulting.

Why is it that those who proclaim themselves to be the smartest among us always aspire to be the lowest common denominator?

First, they're lying or delusional on that 'Smartest' crap, and second, a 2.0 IS an upward aspiration based on their own performance.

And a lot of them brag about their supposed amazing GPA's in worthless college studies & majors.
