you just never know where the ripples you make will end up.
through the wonders of fb, i bumped into the daughter of a friend from waaaaaaayy back.
when i knew her mom, i was a single mom, who jumped at a carpenter's apprenticeship, one of the best jobs available in my old home town. this was the late 70's.
i had fallen in with a group of crazy women. we called ourselves the fox valley women's coalition. proud, rabble rousing feminists on a mission.
her mom was a lawyer. we had a shrink, a librarian, and a couple moms. this young lady was prolly about 10 or so at the time.
she barely remembered my name at first. when i reminded her who i was, she said, oh, you bet i remember you trouble makers.
she ended up working on oil rigs. she is up in alaska, w bp, and w a 2 year degree is at a level where pretty much all her peers are engineers. she also has a mission to bring women into skilled trades.
her mom died not long after that. i had to tell her how proud she would have been of her.
she thanked me for setting an example for her.
my little heart is going pitter pat.
you just dont know who you are fighting for sometimes.
so fight on.
I guess she's hoping to make an early run to repeat for 2015.

2. looking forward to a good long chat one day.
i actually ended up spending a few years doing what she is trying to do. the org that i helped start lives on, going strong at 30yo.
so, i knew i had made some ripples.
i just had no idea how early that was.
it's kinda crazy.

5. really warms my heart that that little group had an impact.
we pretty much came and went within a few years. did a couple conferences, made some noise. we used to occasionally vandalize the knights of columbus big anti-abortion billboard. (sure the statute of limitations is up on that. tho the damn sign is still there.) we supported several small downtown bars.
it was and is a very conservative little town. didn't know we made a dent.
tho members went on to do great things. one of them founded the first battered women's shelter in that town. when that was a new thing.
and that librarian was a great subversive for many years. of course.

Big Mo and the fizzy one, the "fizzgig" primitive, think they're being "artistic" and "creative" and "different" and "distinctive" not using capital letters, so as to show off their individuality; they're rebels, after all.
It's pretty stupid. But most of the things primitives do are pretty stupid anyway.

It's like UGP refusing to use the space bar after a sentence, the Big Guy referring to "the" DU, the CalPig's "my dear", and the drunken Pitt's use of pittian dots for gravitas.
They dream of an oppressive, depressing, gray, Stalinist world, yet make pathetic attempts to give themselves some kind of trademark.

and it was a real shot in the arm when i really needed one.
You know, given the persistent persuasion of Skins, Skippy, and franksolich for the primitives to ignore the DUmpster--each has a different motive, though--one wonders if Big Mo's even aware yet she carried off the top prize, the golden banana.
She very well might not know.
If Big Mo knew, the honor's so glorious she wouldn't need a shot in the arm, a morale-booster, for the whole rest of the year.

I would opt for stupid and lazy plus so self centered that it has no respect for its audience.
I am not a spelling,punctuation or grammar fanatic but to not even try to write with some semblance of correctness speaks volumes about the Primitive mindset.
