Title: Pictures of our finished deck/pond/arbor.....
Post by: BEG on July 13, 2008, 07:43:37 PM
I was rinsing off the deck and decided it was a good time to take some pictures.  For the most part we are finished so I thought I would show you all a few pictures.  I couldn't decide which pictures to post so I'm probably being a bit redundant in some of the pictures.

** I could kick myself for planting crepe myrtles around the pool, we are constantly getting the blooms in the pool.

BTW, can you see the back of your neighbors home from the back of yours? That's my only problem. I'd love to do something like that, but I have 5 houses around me that can peer right into my back yard.

No, there is no one behind us.  THe house behind us is a "farm" that doesn't grow anything or have any animals.  We can't see their house from our backyard.  It is totally a green belt behind us.

If you are talking about this tree it is a Shumard Red Oak.

That's why I was thinking of buying a lot on the tracks up the road in my neighborhood. Nothing behind you.

Yahoo's off. In the circle, there are 4 on the left, 3 homes on the right. I'm the second one from the top left, inside the circle. I don't sweat the small stuff. If someone shows up at my house, they better either be a hot chick, or a guy with money. Some fool shows up unannounced, like a DUmmie, he'll be met with a .45 ACP.

Yeah we paid all this money to have the deck rebuilt & stained and had them use a different color stain on the bridge.   :whatever:

It was crepe myrtle flowers and if I had skimmed them out of the water by the time I had put the skimmer away there would be more of them floating in the water.  Besides, I took the pictures for family, not for the cover of a magazine you a$$wipe.

I forgot what an a$$ you were while you were MIA.  My husband just finished putting the bridge in place yesterday.  There are two pieces of wood (each on the ends of the bridge) that were stained yesterday so they haven't aged like the rest of the cedar.

If it was any cleaner it would not even look natural. Knowing how particiliar you are, it was just cute to see the flowers in the pool....as you like to make sure things are "done right".  That is a compliment by the way.

You are the one that notices every piece of dust in the DUmmie photo threads.... So I was just being a little critical of your masterpiece of a back yard...like I said, it looks nice...

The bamboo was a very nice touch to the pond by the way.

I really was just kidding about the wood (as I thought it was just the light, as it was not consistent with the other photo)....but I try really hard to be an ass....glad it worked.

It's not bamboo, it is horsetail rush.

My bad, my second guess was sugar cane!  :-)

You are forgiven a$$hole.

I'm sure someone of his limits doesn't know some people pay good money for flowers to float in their pool. :)

LOL unfortunately I didn't "get it" the first time we had a pool at our old house.  We planted a crepe myrtle fairly close to the pool and the flowers were a PITA.  So I decided not only to plant TWO crepe myrtles by this pool, I planted one that gets HUGE as well.  I never learn my lesson.

I have had to deal with several pools over the years, and it's always something that seems to blow or fall in, making it a PIA. Heavy midwest rains used to really screw up my day of having to deal with the pool...all that in a climate where it could only be used about 60 good days....

They are messy droppers, but they are one of my favorites.

Now, wha'cha need is two big-o mimosa trees.  No mess there!

There is a mesquite tree that hangs over the fence.  It has all these pods that drop on my yard.  I hate that bastard tree.

Very very nice BEG. Back in the mists of time I used to be a landscaper and we'd do that sort of work around Winter Park Fl. The crepes won't be a bother to long  :evillaugh: They look great by the pool so they're worth the trouble if you're willing to put up with flower season.

Are you going to trim them back for winter or let them go into a canopy?
Wisteria on the pergola?

There is shit floating in the pool, ...............

Now that brings back childhood memories of sharing a 'real' pond with cows and horses. Those floating green things weren't lily pads.

Beautiful back yard BEG, enjoy it.

We trim them back every other year.  We have wisteria on a metal arbor by the entry way to the pool equipment (back behind the larger crepe myrtle).  We had wisteria on our fence at our other house, it basically took the fence down so we wont be having it grow on our new structure.

Odd, it was just as I pictured him.   :rotf:

I don't feel confident enough to post my pictures on ratemyspace.  I don't take criticism too well. Especially when someone criticizes something my husband has done.  Once a friend and I posted on this one decorating board and I posted a picture of the built in desk/wall unit my husband built.  The first piece of furniture he has ever built.  Someone said that they didn't believe that he built it as they had seen that "MONSTROSITY" at a discount furniture store just last week.  I went off.....

Here is a picture of it just after we finsihed painting the room, there is another row of the "squares" at the top.  I guess I missed it in the picture.  This was taken about 5 years ago.  Don't look at the stuff on the shelves as I just threw stuff up there to take a picture.  It looks completely different now.  My son is getting ready to paint the ugly yellow color a different color.  I have hated the yellow color since day one.  It looks ok in the picture but in real life it is putrid.

Oh BEG that's gorgeous! He built that?? Wow! I love that style.

You'll have to show us what is looks like when it's repainted. I think it looks fine in the photo but I know what you mean. I've got some ugly paint in one room. It looked so much better in the store!!!

I have noticed some idjits posting on ratemyspace. *eyeroll* they are probably just bitter and jealous.

We had some huge dragonflies hanging around while my husband was building the pond, now it seems all we have are these fairly small Damselflies.  I don't know the exact difference between a dragonfly and a damselfly.

Yes, that would be a huge hole in my basement wall!! Totally jealous eh? Yeah, it's fixed now but still. I can see the envy in your eyes. If you look hard enough you can see part of my back yard.

And finally, the basement... err, indoor pool! Ha, I have an indoor pool and you only have a clean one outside with flowers floating in it. The body cleansing mud is no longer there. Just a few inches of water now since it rained again. Yeah, mine is fresh water.

Still dealing with it. Filed a lawsuit today. We had to wait for a certain period of time after notifying these a$$holes. Their lawyer contacted our lawyer a few months ago saying they'd fix it but they keep putting us off and not even getting back with their own lawyer. Hubby said "screw this, we're not waiting any longer."

Instead of backfilling with stone they backfilled with mud. Real geniuses we're working with here.  :thatsright:
