Title: Winter Weather
Post by: CG6468 on December 29, 2012, 10:40:37 AM
Snowing here, but as usual for the past 2 years, not enough to stick. I haven't even had the tractor out of the garage since I removed the mowing deck.

It snowed around here today but melted as soon as it hit the ground.

My kind of snow.

We've got four to six inches of snow on the ground.  The weather got pretty cold a little more than a week ago and is staying cold.  We used to get breaks every few days.  Kids and I are going winter camping next weekend.  It's going to take a lot of food to keep us warm.

Finally got some snow to stick (yay, white Christmas!) and got the first "major" snow of the season Thursday (about a foot.)  Snowing tonight and into tomorrow morning (another 5-6 inches.)

I'm thinking this stuff is here until spring.  Good thing I got that firewood in and stacked the day after Christmas.

As long as it stays around freezing, I'm good.  Anything less than that is Too Damn Cold.

it's funny in New England, Durham and above have 8-10 inches of snow, yet I live 20 minutes away, and we are lucky if we have 2!!

Do not forget the adult anti-freeze!  :cheersmate:

I actually like it a bit colder when working outside.  Around freezing just makes the snow wet, which means you have to combat wet and cold.  Get it under 20 and you just have to deal with the cold.  Temps between 30 and 45 are my least favorite.

Rain finally stopped this week. We are at 34" with 13.59 this month. Total norm for the entire season is 56"  Gonna be at or below freezing for the rest of the week at night.  Brrrrrrrrr......

We're getting snow today.  The ground is almost covered, but some green grass is still poking through. We're hovering around 32-34 degrees. If was younger, I'd be playing out in it.

19 degrees right now, low of 1 tonight.  Oh well, I chose to live here.  But Texas is sounding better & better with this constant cold weather.

Heh.  I went to Denver for Christmas, it was colder here.  Be careful what you wish for.  Today, it's a gloomy rainy cold day.  I can't wait to get home.

I made a New Year's resolution to not do things I hate unless it is for the betterment of mankind.

Thus... there is no way I'm spending Friday night in a tent at 9,000 feet!  It's been below zero every morning since I agreed that it would be sooo fun.  The kids (all adults) still say they are going camping.  I told them to have a great time and that I'd be in a cabin with a space heater down the road if they chill down.

Don't know what I was thinking anyway!

At a certain point in life, the magic and the camaraderie of winter camping disappears and it becomes not much more than an exercise in pain and misery.

h5

Snowplow came along last night, very late. I went out to clear away the wreckage. Holy Mother, it's cold. No winter camping for me, either. And I'm seriously debating just putting the dogs on the treadmill rather than go out and negotiate uncleared walkways that hide ice underneath.

I think I'm gonna follow longview's lead on this one.  :lmao:

Happy New Year water main leak, smack dab in the middle of my street, one house down.  Fortunately this week is above freezing.

Lucky you! I pity the poor bastards who have to saddle up and deal with that. Of course, they're probably union and will be making triple time because it's a hollyday, but anyway, I hope you can keep the water out of your abode.

They already fixed it!  It was in front of my neighbor's house, we are on a pier and beam, so it would have taken ALOT of water to come into the house.

It rained here for a good portion of yesterday. New Years eve was rife with rain & then fog. Today was another gloomy day. I slept a good portion of the day away (I woke up around 6 PM). Boredom has set in and I think that's a large contributor to my sleepiness as well as having Seasonal Affective Disorder. Give me sunshine any day!! :)

Snow on the ground for over 50 days now. Past week temps just getting above freezing during the day with clear skys. But, now the freezing fog has settled in. My least favorite time of year here, I cant see the desert hills!

That almost what it is here.  65 now with thunderstorms possible, but only a high of 24 on Thursday.

Mid to upper 50's to 60. Mid 30's at night. It's finally back to "normal". It was too damn cold around Christmas/New Years.

We finally got a decent snow.  About six inches of powdery stuff.  It stayed in the single digits today, but was in the high 40s last Sunday and going to hit that again on Friday.  We need more snow.  Lots.

It was nice and warm yesterday but rainy.  Back to freezing again with a light snow falling.  Doesn't look like it will amount to much.

Mrs E and I went to see "Oh Dark Thirty" tonight. It was a longish film at 2:40 or so, but when we came out I had 2" of snow on the car with more falling.

Salt truck blasted by me on the freeway doing about 60 to my 35. I guess he's got snow tires on the truck, eh?  :lmao:

14oF, light snow, about 2" overnight. That would be 2" of partly cloudy.  ::)

Another 2" to 3" is forecast for tonight. We'll see.........
