Seven states push to require ID for watching porn online

So much going on here.  Porn is not good for the mind, body or soul (secularists can make arguments about adults and moderation on the first two, but Matt. 5:27-28 sets the spiritual bar).  Kids do not need to be watching porn, especially the very perverted, twisted, extreme and violent stuff that is out there.  However, not only is blocking anything from the internet nearly impossible logistically without Great Firewall of China level of expenditures, surveillance (or extreme Google manipulation), and technical knowledge which most politicians and state workers are severely lacking, it's not the government's job to monitor children's online activities, it's the parents.  Throw in the dangers of showing some form of ID to see some boobies, only to find you got phished and start getting credit card bills from Zimbabwe, or warrants for speeding tickets in Oshkosh.

The solutions to so many of these problems is personal responsibility and morality, not government intervention.  But some folks, even those with (R)s behind their names, only have a hammer to work with, so they see every problem as a nail.
Romans 6:17-18 But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness.

In the age of VPNs on damned near everybody's cell phone, I'm curious how these legislative imbeciles (but of course, I repeat myself) propose to spot violators, or prosecute them once they do stumble into one.

The government involved? What could possibly go wrong?

Meanwhile, I do remember a time, the 90's, when every Adult Themed website required a Credit Card. I could see it going back to that. That would be the most realistic solution to the problem.

So, what happened to requiring CCs? Without googling it for sure, I believe I read that one company came along and started buying up streaming sites. They then gave porn away for free, but introduced a subscription service for customers who wanted to pay for better stuff. Or something like that.

Breaking up a monopoly essentially.
