Title: Registration Agreement
Post by: Chris on September 02, 2010, 12:43:27 PM
I have upated the registration agreement to reflect the limits that have been placed on new member accounts.

Quote
You agree, through your use of this forum, that you will not post any material which is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, adult material, or otherwise in violation of any International or United States Federal law. You also agree not to post any copyrighted material unless you own the copyright or you have written consent from the owner of the copyrighted material.

Spam, flooding, advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are also forbidden on this forum.  In addition, new members will have their ability to modify and edit their posts restricted during a probationary period.  After a period of time, those functions will be restored to your account.

You got it right chris. They will NOT have the ability during probie time. Your note says it will be restricted....it's all good.

That is a rather strange restriction. Out of sheer curiosity what is the rationale for such limitation ?

New posters make spelling/typo errors and/or otherwise upon reflection may want to take back what they posted before it is commented on.

We had a new member a couple months ago get bent out of shape and started deleting his posts.  It was the only thing we could come up with that would prevent it from happening again.

I made a couple changes.  The ability to edit a post will be limited to fifteen minutes for all members.  New members will be able to edit a post during that time frame, but will not be able to delete any of their posts during a probation period.

Sorry to muddy the waters, but are you saying that ALL MEMBERS will lose the ability to edit their own posts after 15 minutes? But will retain the ability to delete their own posts once past the probation period?

If so, that doesn't make a lot of sense to me. If I want to fix a typo I wrote a year ago because it's bugging the shit out of me (I ain't OCD, really I ain't), I can't do so? But I can delete the whole damned thing?

Eupher, you just ain't OCD ENOUGH!!  :rotf: :rotf: If you don't have your posts corrected in 15 minutes, there's something drastically wrong..... Besides, IF you used Firefox, it has a built in spell checker, not that those catch EVERYTHING.

I use FF, but I don't use a spell checker. You'd be hard-pressed to find misspellings in my stuff.

Nope, I'm not OCD. Really I ain't.     :uhsure:

My fingers don't work well enough to NOT have a spell checker. It's tough typing when one can't feel their fingertips.
