Title: A Serious But Possibly Unanswerable Question
Post by: mrclose on May 04, 2013, 08:25:09 PM
Yes .. I can be serious at times! :whistling:

A question that probably only a JW will attempt to answer!?

With all of this horror about Dr Mengele (Gosnell) being reported, I have a serious question .. one that I hope isn't looked upon as blasphemous!
(I'm asking anyway)

If I were all powerful, a little more than I am now, (sorry, couldn't resist) and I was also all knowing, loving etc. etc. .. HOW could I sit on my throne and just watch as innocent babies were being murdered?

Not only murdered but Some of them are TORN APART, limb by limb!

I don't have to say it (do I?) .. you know WHO I am talking about!?

If a 'slightly' imperfect person .. such as myself had all the power .. NO baby would EVER be murdered or worse .. torn limb from limb!

How's He Do It?
(sit and watch)

PLEASE don't give me the Free Choice line!
Those babies Have or Had No Free Choice!

Maybe this is one of the reasons that people are 'skeptical' of an all powerful, all knowing, all loving Deity?

I dunno .. Just crankily upset on what our country (and it's people) have become!

(I will now return to my witty ways of posting really important and insightful topics .. for everyone to enjoy!) :-)

I'll answer it in my best atheistic way.

You, I, and our pups whose heads I scratch are simply members of the animal kingdom. We humans just happen to be at the top of the cognitive "food chain". Within physical reason, we can do almost anything we want to.

I consider that life begins at conception. No fertilized human egg ever grew into an oak tree.
Abortion of a human embryo is the taking of innocent human life without justification. Execution under the law of a criminal or justified self-defense are different matters.

Well it's the same reason Adam sinned. He had free will.

You see God can watch and will judge. The only thing that man did was send those babies to heaven before their time was up. You God has a plan. I can't remember the scripture, but there's a verse where people who cannot understand or know the word are safe. Yes what that doctor did was terrible, but God had a plan to put those babies in heaven because they were defenseless.

I don't know God's way, but he will help his children if they call out to Him, and He will protect the ones who cannot.

They're in heaven, and they're feasting on the manna from a bountiful supply as a song goes.

It's hard to answer that question. The only way that makes sense to me is that there's a big picture somewhere. I get to see only the tiniest of fragments.

On the subject of suffering in general, a very good friend (a priest) reminded me that if God allows his only Son to be handed over, tortured horribly, and killed, we can't expect to escape suffering in this world, either.

MAN: God! How can you just sit there and let that happen!

GOD: I'm not just sitting here letting things happen.

MAN: What about that evil going on over there.

GOD: And what would you have me do?

MAN: Keep it from happening. Eradicate it! You're omniscient and omnipotent, aren't you?

GOD: Yes.

MAN: Than do something.

GOD: Again, what would you have me do?

MAN: Can't you just snap whatever it is you have for fingers and do away with it?

GOD: Then I would have to deal with the man.

MAN: Can't you just make him do something different?

GOD: Yes, but then he wouldn't be a man.

MAN: So, when are you going to deal with him?

GOD: When he dies.

MAN: Why not sooner?

GOD: When would that be? After he's committed the deed?

MAN: No, because then we would still have evil in the world.

GOD: So you want me to judge him before he has done the act of evil itself.

MAN: If you must.

GOD: You want me to judge him for having the corruption of heart that cause him to do evil.

MAN: Yes!

GOD: You have heard it said that you shall not commit murder but whoever calls his brother a fool has committed murder in his heart.

MAN: Okay, fine but -- wait. What?

GOD: If I judge men by their hearts shall you stand before me?

MAN: Hey now! I'm nothing like that guy!

GOD: And what would "that guy" be like?

MAN: Judgmental. Vengeful. Violent. Unmercifu --

* silence *

GOD: You were saying something?

MAN: I'll get back to you.

GOD: I certainly hope so.

Some people are evil and choose to be evil.

God understands the big picture and knows things that we don't.

Take a look at the story of Joseph. God allowed his brothers to hate him and sell him in to slavery, to be sold to a Egyptain official, accused of a sex crime he didn't commit and thrown in to prison for an unknown period of time. All this so that 20 years later he could rescue his family from starvation, save the foundation of Israel that, in time, leads to the incarnation of God in the flesh to save His people from themselves.

As monsterous as Dr. Gosnell's actions are they will server some greater good that we don't see right now.
