As portrait of Jared Loughner sharpens, 'vitriol' blame fades

At this point, then, the left's initial eagerness to link the shooting to political anger on the right could backfire, says Charles Franklin, a pollster and political scientst at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

Quote
To be sure, Sheriff Dupnik put the issue on the national plate with his comments, and given that that the shooting appears to be a political assassination attempt in a politically rancorous border district, the debate on political tone was, in many ways, inevitable.

Quote
But critics point out that the nation largely refrained from linking Maj. Nidal Malik Hassan – the suspect in the 2009 Fort Hood shootings – with terrorism.

Fox News had reported that at least 4 of 10 calls to the Loughner house were about Jared. What were the others about?

That's what I want to know. One of them was he was drunk at school.

Loughner was stopped by police on morning of shooting.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110112/ap_on_re_us/us_congresswoman_shot

The officer let him off on a warning when he ran a red light.

It would suck to be that cop. He must be going through some awful self recriminations.

I know, but what else could he have done?

He couldn't take him to jail over a red light infraction.  But for that cop to know he had Loughner less than a foot away from him?  Sucks.  Too bad he couldn't predict the future.

I know. It is not his fault. The fault lies SQUARELY on Jared Loughner.

Oh absolutely. If I was him, I too would feel guilty. He should take no blame.

Holy crap! Has anyone seen this yet? It was in fact, just brought to my attention. If I were one in attendance, I would not have complied. Simple as that.

Disgusting.

How would you like to be the state trooper who stopped one of the 9-11 terrorists on I-95 the day before?  I know him.  He had no idea just who he had on that traffic stop.  They found his speeding ticket in the glove compartment of his rental car at the airport parking lot.

I think there was a security gate agent at one of the airports that had a similar experience.  I don't remember his name, but I do recall hearing his story.

I don't envy either of them.

The trooper was stationed at my barrack, then got transferred to the barrack on I-95.  He was a K-9 trooper with a drug dog.  He made the stop and ran the guy through NCIC and nothing appeared so he wrote him and let him go.  The guy had a Virginia driver's license.  I watched the video from his in car camera.

What is that a photo of Rev?

I believe that's a photo of the Jumbotron in the arena/auditorium during the memorial ceremony (complete with applause sign).

Is that an applause sign for the audience to applause or is it closed captioning the speech? When closed captioning is done on tv...applause, laughter, door bell ringing, car horn honking - something occurring during a lapse in speaking...is all bracketed like that.
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

It could be CC for the hearing impaired, but I'm not certain at all about that. I think it was trying to get the citizens of AZ to applaud Obumble.

Kind of ticks me off too.
