The entire political structure is totally screwed up. The politicians are for the politicians. We no longer have a Government that is "by the people, for the people." We have the best politicians that money can buy. Ordinary people get elected and go to Washington only to be swallowed up by the system. However, they do get rich in the process.

I'm starting to think that obama winning was a good thing. I would give him anything and everything that he asks for. Don't block anything. Let the whole thing come crashing down. Start over from square one. When, not if, it crashes, there will be a purge. It will get messy but we will come out of it a stronger country. Free of the entitlement class. Free of the immoral minority. Free of the Marxist democrat party.

Maybe we have to take one step back in order to take two steps forward.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

This is why I'm strongly in favor of term limits; always have been.

Nebraska finally got a term-limit law that met the "standards" of the Supreme Court back in 2002, after, I dunno, almost thirty years of trying to get them.

Turnover in the state legislature (49 state senators; that's all we got, at $12,000 per year), has been 100% since 2002.

State taxes, to one extent or another, have gone down every single year since then.

Since they can be around only eight years, state senators don't have much of an opportunity to get "buddy-buddy" with the special interests.  They know they're in there only a short time, and so are in a hurry to legislate on issues that got them elected in the first place.

What I wish the Gop house would do is tell Nancy this her mess so she gets to fix it, let her introduce the legislation bring it up for a vote and every single Republican vote "present", do the same in the Senate and let 0bama sign it, then sit back and watch it all go to hell then remind the voters in 2014 that not a single Republican voted for it.

Call it "The Obama Option".

Yep. The problem is the voters will probably still be too stupid to see that 0bama did it, they will still blame Bush.

We have term limits at the state level. The argument that the anti's put up for term limits is that they are already in place with the ability to vote them out of office. This might be a salient argument if there were policies in place to stop voter fraud, like the requirement to show a valid photo ID.

Showing a photo ID is the most important item on my agenda, right now. With the probability of 12-20 illegal aliens gaining legal status sometime within the next four years, the need to run clean elections is paramount.

Maybe we have to take one step back in order to take two steps forward.

Others have thought the same thing: "Hooverize" MAObama with national bankruptcy and currency collapse.

The other possibility - given the Dems' tendency to ignore the Constitution - is that they would blame Capitalism, Republican obstructionism, "fat cat bankers," the Churches, and anyone convenient, so that they can nationalize industry, mining, the schools, etc. etc. for a complete take-over, using the collapse as an excuse.

And you know their minions would gladly extend their hands for the new chains.

Previously, I've been against term limits. My thoughts were we might actually be limiting the term of someone who is doing a good job. Plus, we already have a way to limit terms: voting them out.

Then this election happened and I realized that a portion of America is too stupid to be voting.

Bring back property qualifications and literacy tests!   :o

And why not add the ability to do basic arithmetic: x - 17 = 20  x = ???

Or test knowledge of the Constitution!  How many Dem politicians would fail that one?!   :argh:

"We have to pass it so we can find out what's in it," and the senile moron Pelosi nods like she's explaining something complicated to First Graders.   :banghead:

I'd settle for being employed (or just paying taxes).

There you go!  Only those paying the income tax can vote - (withholding does not count as actually paying!)

Ah, a wonderful fantasy!   O-)

Like no illegal immigrants voting!  Or union members voting multiple times!   :lmao:

I would settle for something more simple. Like a single multiple choice question:

(a) I get free stuff
(b) I can get and/or keep a job

Term lmits just don't cut it. It'd be a beginning, and much better than what we have now, but they'd find a way around term limits.

We need iron-clad, no exception term limits.

The country fell into the hole (I don't want to say "died" yet) when conservatives ceded academia and popular culture to the libs.

Yes, but it's so far gone now, how on earth can it ever be reclaimed?

Conservatives would have to start their own schools in mass and put out competing media that influences the culture.

I don't see it happening, do you?   And it would take at least one or two generations to right this sinking ship.

I believe the home-schooling movement of the last 20 years is part of that, along with Fundamentalist Christians starting their own schools.

Most  but not all - Catholic schools can still be seen as against the kulcher of today: some have fallen prey to political correctness (filling kids with Angst about global warming, etc).  Others (like mine here in Columbus, Ohio) support Conservatism.

Yes, 40 years of wandering in the wilderness may await America right now: will it emerge purged and better than ever, or will it contain only a few pockets of sanity in a vast kulcheral and politicuckoo desert?
