I seriously doubt Romney will select a female as his running mate. There is no one that makes sense at this current time and in this current political landscape. He will not touch Palin and Bachman is too polarizing.
Why? What makes her so polarizing?
The only one that makes a little sense is Martinez. She is a fine governor and has a promising political future, but too young and inexperienced.
The Gov. needs to stay where she's at. Legislatively...Red state Governors may be the only option we have left to blunt the Imperialism of the left.
My guess is Romney will go with Rubio.[/quote]
Why? I have issues with his stance in immigration. And the left will rake him over the coals if he speaks out on this issue since teh WH is saying what they've done with their Amnesty plan is copy what Rubio called for.
It makes perfect sense.
To who?
He could deliver Florida, which is a pivotal swing state, is extremely popular within the conservative base, and will deliver a percentage of Hispanic voters, which is also critical in this upcoming election.
Republicans and Conservatives thought Florida was a lock in 2000 because Jeb Bush was the Governor and could deliver for his brother.
History shows otherwise. Nothing is ever a lock.
Also keep an eye on Portman. Not a sexy pick, but could deliver Ohio, another huge swing state. And unless I am mistaken, no candidate has ever won the presidential election without taking Ohio.
What does Portman bring to the table other than being Bush's OMB guy and responsible for NAFTA?
Those are two things Obama would hang around the neck of the Romney campaign like a noose.
Besides...Portman holds down a Senate seat in a swing state...we need him there.
I'm not trying to be a wet blanket here...I'm just looking at things realistically and how the media and the left will eviscerate some of these people that are popular VP picks on chat forums but have some flaws the left would love to expose. Everyone's got them...but things like what I mentioned above are things to consider and think about whether they can be blunted by the GOP.
