Are we living in a potentially worse time than the pre-Civil War era?

The only thing we seem to learn from history is that we learn nothing from history.

The potential for violence is just as great, or maybe moreso, than before the Civil War.

The January 6th insurrection may have done more damage to our country in the long run than the attack upon Fort Sumter in 1861.

Just as in 1860, there is a "great cause" for people to rally behind, even though it is based on a "Big Lie". Just as in the days of Hitler, people are likely to believe a lie, the bigger the lie.

The racism and the division are still with us.

It seems the hatred and the potential for violence increases with each passing day.

Lincoln could not save us from ourselves in 1861. Is there anyone that can save us now from the lies and deceit that lead to ruin?
Oh, Kentuck . . .

Are we living in a potentially worse time than the pre-Civil War era?

Nope. Democrats were forced to free their slaves nearly 150 years ago.

That was so easy I feel guilty for posting such an obvious come-back. :rotf:
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

Effin idiot.  :thatsright:
“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

The racist, power hungry democrats are making another run at a civil was just like 160 years ago, so there is definitely the potential for bad things.

Only. Because. Of. DEMOCRATS.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

29. Yes.

Climate change migration northward will exacerbate the existing problems.

We had a slim chance to avoid a civil war but climate change will be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

The best part is knowing their paranoia, ramped up accusations, and emotional outbursts are only getting started. This coming summer, we'll look back on the things they're saying now as "the time they still had some of their sanity" in comparison.

2022 is much more dangerous for a number of reasons:
1.) The freedom of ALL Americans is at stake now. From government handouts that take food out of the mouths of those that EARNED it and giving it to those who didn't to stealing away the livelihood of hard working Americans by making them close their businesses, from being able to defend oneself, even when your life is threatened, only with government approval, to stealing away rights, like the clearly defined 1st and Second amendments. The government is telling when we can work, how we can work, and where we can work.
2.) Domestic security is disappearing. From hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants to "flash mobs" to murders on the rise, to Antifa/BLM riots and looting, we are simply not safe anymore.
3.) National Defense is all but gone. The Afghanistan fiasco made it clear to all American citizens and to the world that America is cowardly, unwilling do even defend its own citizens, let alone its allies. America is now a submissive victim in the worlds and "ripe for the picking".
4.) The American economy is tanking under the weight of historic levels of inflation government spending, and the effects of socialism, which gives free money to people so they no longer need to work.
5.) Lying has become the norm so trust in government is disappearing. As government makes the mistakes outlined above, they distract our attention with lies about a protest, calling it an "insurrection". Government hides behind such lies, avoiding responsibility for, well, everything.

All of these conditions make 2022 much more dangerous than 1860. But it gets worse.
    - No aggressive enemies were expanding across the globe in 1960. Now we have China and Russia.
    - Our enemies in 1860 did not have nuclear weapons.

I pity today's youth.

They will (probably) see horror the world has never seen before.

The January 6th insurrection may have done more damage to our country in the long run than the attack upon Fort Sumter in 1861.
Lets compare:
The attack on Fort Sumter killed people and started a war.
Jan 6, unarmed people took selfies... :rotf: Yeah, sure Jan 6th did more damage.
