Only three candidates are running using BOTH names:

It seems as though the dazzling young brooklynite is trying to keep his DUmmy account current and name in front of the primitives but has decided to lay off speaking truth to power so as not to offend the masses.

When his name comes up on the TV news, they always seem to refer to Pete Buttigieg as Mayor Pete. That sounds to my ears like a very childish, childlike way to refer to the guy:
Honey, did you do anything interesting at school today? Yes mommy, we went on a class field trip to city hall and met Mayor Pete!
It's ok for 3rd graders to talk like that, but not TV news anchors.
I think the reason that they avoid using his last name is because it's pronounced booty-judge. He is gay and his name is booty-judge--that is an invitation to mockery and snickers and the anchormen can't keep a straight face while saying it.
When he decided to get into politics he should have just changed his name. He didn't even have to change his name, just make a subtle change in how it's pronounced, beauty-gig, for example.
