What Is Posted on DU Doesn't Stay on DU.
That's something a lot of us don't think about much. But, when you post something on DU, it's searchable on Google, and Google likes DU a lot. If you start a thread on DU in GD or any other public forum, you can search for your thread title a few minutes later and, if you put the title in quotation marks, it will be the top result in the search results page.

That's because Google constantly watches DU and ranks things posted here pretty highly. We're a popular website.

If you post something that is unique or emphatically worded in the body of a thread, that will also show up in a Google search, if you use those unique keywords.

Sometimes, if you type something extraordinary and if you are well-known outside of DU, that extraordinary thing will be found and posted on many other websites. Once that happens, what you wrote has the potential to go viral, if it is extraordinary enough or if you're well-known enough. Most DUers aren't well-known, but what they post here can still be found on Google.

You can see this for yourself. Just Google your own screen name. You'll find all sorts of things you wrote on DU in the search results, unless your screen name is very common. If you post a lot on DU, lots of results will show up. Usually, some of what you wrote will show up as well. If it's unusual, striking, or out of the ordinary, it's sure to show up.

All of this is to suggest that thinking about what you post on DU is worth doing a little. It will be searchable and connected to your screen name for a long, long time. In some cases, it may appear on other websites, including some websites you may not particularly care for or that don't represent your views. That's more likely, of course, if you're a well-known poster on DU. Then, it might show up on websites that dislike DU and what it represents very much. It could even go viral in ways you won't like.

It's good to consider what you write here and to think before clicking the "Post" button. Once you do, Google will find it and so can anyone else. It can be embarrassing at times, as I have learned myself. Being embarrassed by one's own words isn't much fun, which I've also learned. From learning that, I've learned to reread what I've written before posting it on DU.

If you want to see how it works, go to Google and search for this, including the quotation marks: MineralMan "Paul Ryan is an absolute Poopy-Head."

Wait a few minutes from the time I posted this thread, and you should find it right away.

and made fun of it...really???????

Now I really, really, really, hate those ****ers.

Wish I could email an admin there and ask that question. I am looking for a link or address.

I am mad, but not too mad. Upset I guess.

on edit: They were making fun of me thinking that a 3 bedroom, 1700 sq foot house was big for 2 people....one of their "own" finally stood up for me. That was kinda fun.

Tell ya what, buttercup...

...keep your politics outta my personal life and I'll return the favor.

modified to display the date and time, so as to show that the mineral oil primitive got the idea for his thread from an earlier-in-the-day thread here by franksolich, the poll about the DUmpster affecting the primitives; it's perfectly fine, copacetic, for the primitives to borrow ideas from us, no problem, but it's important to show where they got those ideas--

I remember when they had a poll on whether Rush Limbaugh should die when he was in the hospital a couple of years ago. -And what they said about Sarah Palin's kids was sickening.

I think MineralMan is jealous of Will Pitt.  He did a google search and found out how many websites the infamous Pitt shows up on.

Lurking DUmmies, I think you are mistaken about a great many things as they relate us watching you.

First, anytime someone posts in one DU forum that they are utterly sure about everything that ails the largest economy in the world, and then posts in another DU forum that their anti-psychotic meds aren't working, THEY'RE GOING TO GET RIDICULED.

Next, anytime someone posts what is OBVIOUSLY a lie or an otherwise made-up story and none of you call them on it, THEY'RE GOING TO GET RIDICULED..

Also, when you post disparaging things about your employer and cite your intent to sabotage their business, THEY'RE GOING TO GET WALLDUDED AND CALI'D.

When you use words like "Chimpy," "Chimperor," "Chimpolini," etc., for 8 years and then get all butthurt when someone ridicules your boyfriend 0loser, YOU'RE GOING TO GET RIDICULED.

As for taking joy in your misfortune, I will tell you what: take every instance of you sensitive little flowers getting all hurt about something we say, and divide the sum by the number of distinct occurrences of "Rest in Piss" posted on DU when someone less-than-flaming-liberal dies. If that number is greater than one, I will eat my shirt.

:bigbird: Deal with it, monkeys. And go get your anti-psychotic meds upped.

One group of idiots had fun mocking one of my threads where I discussed the death of my bearded collie. You have to admire the total lack of class of these idiots.

Later this group took offense when I pointed out that conservatives lack the intelligence to have a sense of humor.

Let's just say there is a website that we don't speak of, someone took one of my OP's from here and had a field day with it, showing the moron's for what they really are.

They even quoted the OP correctly, but their comments don't even come close to what was written. You would think I would be mad but I'm not, all I can do is pray for their poor wretched souls.

That's putting it as kindly as I possibly can.

As one might guess, primitives don't really wander around that vast wasteland that Skins's island; when they go there, they go to just one place, ignoring all the other forums.  Primitives tend not to be curious people, wondering what's going on around them.

However, nosy snooping primitives do come over here, and by publicizing the steve2470's forum here, it draws traffic on Skins's island.

Yeah, MsPiggy's not very imaginative, very creative, in composing her comments; she's always talked about this.

Me, myself, other than when I was in the socialist paradises of the workers and peasants, I don't believe I've ever been within five miles of a goat, despite Nebraska being an agricultural state with a diversity of livestock.....including llamas, and of course goats too.

I imagine goats are rather more plentiful, and visible, around MsPiggy's much-touted beachside villa in New Jersey that's located rather far inland, almost to Pennsylvania; one can't even see the ocean with a high-power telescope from there.

Agreed. And when she wants to see other animals, maybe she takes her kid to the zoo.

That's one thing about MsPiggy; she can't keep her lies straight.

She alleges to have a child, which sounds credible.

But sometimes she alleges the child's female, other times she's described it as male.

I dunno why MsPiggy bothers lying about such a harmless, innocuous fact; just like in most cases, it's just easier to tell the truth.
