April 27, 2008 - 3:20pm

With the next new moon arriving May 5, 2008, which is usually the time the Pentagon War Mongers love to attack countries Israel wants bombed, this next terror drill, coming up next week, could be more than interesting. Especially the part about invoking "Continuity Plans and Capabilities."

That's bureaucrat speak for Martial Law.

Bet the "Dick", Cheney, has already slithered into his bunker in an undisclosed location.

The overall exercise scenario unfolds as a Category 4 hurricane threatens the National Capitol Region (NCR) while events in the Pacific Northwest include terrorist attacks involving weapons of mass destruction (WMD) in the state of Washington and an accidental release of a chemical agent at chemical stockpile facility in Umatilla, Oregon. The scenario culminates with the hurricane's imminent landfall combined with a credible terror threat to the NCR which causes the federal government to invoke continuity plans and capabilities.

2. Attack on Iran = Good Cover-up for Dollar Collapse
"It wasn't our fault the dollar collapsed, Iran attacked us!"

4. I remember last year, reports said they were going to pull something in May.
Of course I still had egg on my face after being wrong about a pre-emptive attack on Iran in March.

Logically, it would be in their best interest NOT to have any more man made catastrophes happen to the US, not until they are way out of office and living in guarded modern day fortresses in foreign countries...if ya know what I'm sayin.

That's because you are ALL ****ING CRAZY!

6. Of course, if this is wrong, will there be a thread about that?
I read a lot of "the sky is falling" kind of threads, but I don't hear much about them when they don't pan out. If the weather forcaster predicts rain everyday, eventually the prediction will be correct. This is not to say that this info is not true, but in the "Boy Who Cried Wolf" story the wolf did really come, but by then nobody believed the kid.

With hope you will make DUmmie FUnnies.

30. Every time DU exposes them, they are forced to back off. It's no coincidence!
But seriously, it's not like they haven't attacked a country that didn't do anything to us before. I hope it never happens, but the pieces really are falling into place for the Bush Regime to do this.

And they ARE crazy.

Sacrasm? you can never tell with these crazies.

11. Funny thing is, if the Bush Crime Family arranged a "terra attack" on May 5,
The sheeple wouldn't blame Iran, they would blame Mexico.

(think about it for a second......  )

*blink blink* waht?

16. If they're not planning a new false flag attack to get consensus for an attack on Iran...
... I think their focus groups and pollsters tell them they've created and sustained enough fear to keep the peasants terrorized without having to go through all the trouble of another 9/11.

It's kind of funny in a sick way: all those millions of swaggering, rugged individualist wannabes out there in red state land living closeted, fear-saturated lives of doom and desperation because they were conned about the whole phony war on terra by the stupidest man ever to occupy the offal office.

But you can't ignore the signs. The Bushies have been hard at work for the past seven and a half years to put together the infrastructure and systems necessary to implement a full-blown national security state.

One of those pieces is NSPD 51/HSPD-20 (see the link below). It will be the legal justification to implement the new "Continuity of Government" protocols spelled out in that PD and referred to in the OP.

If that's not enough to turn your stomach, NSPD 51/HSPD-20 also anoints Bushie Lord Protector of the Constitution, no doubt an acknowledgment of his veneration for Constitutional law, and makes him solely responsible for ensuring that the rule of law is maintained.

It's not known if the entire cabinet collapsed in gales of uncontrollable laughter when they heard about this colossal joke, but it's a fair bet that they at least broke out the foot-long cigars or, as they're known in pentagon jargon, "Combustible, Tubular-Shaped Tiny Weenie Compensation Devices; Not to Exceed 95 Centimeters Length."

As a side note, I wonder if the world would be an entirely different place now if we had all contributed a thousand bucks toward penile enlargement surgery for the whole Bushie gang. That would have seemed pretty expensive back in 2001, but imaging the savings we would have realized by now. Nor would their madness have caused the deaths of more than a million Iraqi civilians and almost 4,050 US troops. Another missed investment opportunity.

But back to reality. Here's a longer list of reasons to freak. We now have, on the books and I suppose enforceable, repressive legislation, executive orders and presidential directives; massive federal invasions of privacy regarding medical and financial records; monitoring US citizens' electronic communications; re-targeting spy satellites for domestic surveillance; the TSA cavity search specialists (for attractive young women only; the rest are presumed to pose no threat to the state); no-fly and terrorist watch lists; Halliburton/KBR's detention camps; RFIDs in all new passports and in the new national ID cards scheduled to be issued this year; new TSA "behavior detection officers" to spot those who don't "look quite right;" all this wonderful new stuff from the DHS; private armies featuring mercenaries from companies like Blackwater and SAIC springing up like mushrooms after a light rain... All that and the Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act, extraordinary rendition (whatever the hell that means) and torture, too. (Note: the torture link is graphic and disgusting.)

Also, see the blockquote in this post, which is a small part of H.R. 1585, the fiscal year 2008 National Defense Authorization Act. Note the orders to prepare to use regular troops -- as opposed to the Guard or Reserves -- to respond to "natural disasters and terrorist events." In other words, martial law.

Each of these legal or physical pieces of a totalitarian infrastructure is an important link in the chain. Taken together, and when placed in context of a government completely in thrall to the power and influence of mega-business, what else could it be?

I look at the massive power the executive branch has acquired for itself since 2001 -- with the complete complicity of congress (no matter the majority party), non-stop cheerleading by an uncritical mass media, and the tacit compliance of our brain-damaged debt slave population -- and it's hard not to come to the conclusion that all the pieces are in place to lock this country down like a bank vault. They just haven't gone operational yet.

And maybe they never will. Maybe the implied threat is enough, although the Cheneys of the world don't strike me as the type to do stuff like this just for fun.

Rather, fun to them is shooting animals and, occasionally, each other. We need a lot more of the latter and far less of the former.

20. Do you always refute positions you disagree with by calling them stupid, without...
Edited on Mon Apr-28-08 02:36 PM by warren pease
...offering a single item of information that would support your assertion that people who disagree with you are, by definition, stupid?

Does ad hominem mean the same thing as reductio ad absurdum? Hell, they're both from the Latin; they must be closely related.

So give it up: What do you think about all this? Do you think the Bushies are sociopathic enough to murder around 3,000 people on 9/11, then stage dozens of photo ops where Bushie hop scotches over their charred corpses -- and the minute pieces of shredded flesh and scraps of bone and gristle that the explosions didn't quite vaporize -- to sell the public on his nerdy little vision of terror, terror, terror, all the time, everywhere and nobody gets out alive unless they plan their lives around color-coded paranoia levels and stock up on visqueen and duct tape?

Would they commit this monstrous crime just to justify enacting the complete PNAC program for building the 21st century American Empire -- which happens to be the most obvious outcome of "the events of 9/11(tm)?" The same gang of raving neocon loons who lusted after "...a new Pearl Harbor" and, when they got it, went on to infest the highest levels of the executive branch?

Or are they all just incompetent fools, victims of history and happenstance who wouldn't know Al Qaeda from Al Capone?

No doubt you've got an informed view -- fact-based rather than the product of an unprovable belief system -- as to why the premise in the OP is "stupidity." Don't be stingy; share it with all of us stupid people so that we, too, can be exposed to the truth and become similarly enlightened.

I know that would save me a hell of a lot of time and trouble doing actual research; why bother when anything I find is just going to add to the pile of rancid stupidity already accumulated on the subject?

And none of this PM-ing the estimable Senor Boloboffin for help.

24. Yes because Israel an the Joos are responsible for all wars
 Is that you Mel Gibson?

Look I understand that AIPAC is in tight with the fundies and a couple of them wanted us to invade Iraq. I'm sure that there are assholes in every country, seemingly representing the entire government and people of that country. But Israel didn't cause 9/11, it didn't push us to the Iraq war, and it didn't sour the milk in your refrigerator either.

That said I think it'll be more likely that the shit will go down after the Dem convention, if it does go down. Gotta get that fear vote in before people have a chance to realise what a mistake it was to attack.
