Anyone else have their home auctioned off on the courthouse steps today?

We did. Now we are Homeless. Thanks Mr Bush, thanks one helluva lot.

Shouldn't have spent 200 thousand fighting these bastards in better times.

Hope your Christmas is better...

Sorry, had to tell someone, and believe it or not this IS Politics..

Appreciate the DU keeping us sane over all these years, but I'll not be posting any more, hopefully we'll get it together, but it's time for me to go.. This is too Grim.

Thanks to all.

10. I'm so sorry, Symbolman.

If my rental apartment was empty, I'd offer it to you.  :(

Is he not even good enough to let camp out on your apartment floor?

Remember a few months back when Symbolman was holding a raffle for his home in Hawaii?

I wonder how many DUmmies got suckered out of their $100 entry fee?

15. It is politics in it's starkest form.

This is why we fight.

Who's next?

No, it's some DUmb shit trying to sell flash animations and not paying the bills.

If he lost the home because he spent $200K fighting the "Pukes" in the past (Yeah, fat chance!) then the stupid son of a bitch deserves every bit of the pain he's feeling now.

The cymbals-clanging primitive lives on one of the lesser Hawaiian islands.

He offered this house for sale, via some sort of lottery, some months ago.

I wonder what happened with that.

You know, the cymbals-clanging primitive's been evasive, or rather nonresponsive, to one issue here.

He's mentioned the "$200,000" spent "fighting the Republicans" before.

But the cymbals-clanging primitive's never given even the vaguest detail of what that was all about; just that he spent "$200,000" "fighting the Republicans."

It's very sad, of course, losing one's home, but I suspect there's a lot more to this than what's been let on.  A lot more.

Given his background, which is not unimpressive, and his age (almost 56 years old, the same age as the dysmenopausal Kansas school teacher), ordinarily one has all his stuff together.

It's not that something's not ringing right here; it's that something's not ringing, period.

My guess is that nobody, or only a few people, participated in the lottery.

I mean, sure, there's people with a hundred bucks to spend on a lottery ticket to win a house, but remember this one's in a remote out-of-the-way place.

I'm still trying to figure out why the Hades the cymbals-clanging primitive was spending "$200,000" "fighting the Republicans" instead of paying off his mortgage.  If I recall correctly, he wanted $649,000 for the house, and $200,000 would've made a big dent in his mortgage (which I assume is less than $649,000).

Somebody had his priorities all mixed up.

Yep.  In the story/script writing industry, this would be called "a ****ing major plot hole."

There's a whole lot of things wrong with the way this story is being pitched.

In the original post about the $100 Raffle/Skills Contest and in the NY Times story they claimed they wanted to downsize and move where there were better schools.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x4081096#4085406
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/25/garden/25raffle.html?pagewanted=2&_r=3

They didn't mention anywhere that they were in the middle of foreclosure proceedings.  But they must of known when they started their contest that they were going to lose the house before the contest ended.  In Hawaii, the courts have to advertise the notice to foreclose five weeks before the public auction.  I would expect that their mortgage company notified them months before they took legal action when they were going to turn their default over to the courts.  So when they started this contest they should have know when the auction was going to happen.  So much for their claim that the contest would be extended to get enough participants.  Maybe they figured that people would rush to their contest and they would get enough money before their house was auctioned.

Also interesting is the fact that their house still has an active MLS listing.  Possibly the real estate sites are not up-to-date, but kind of hard to believe that the realtors have listed a house for five weeks without noticing that it was in foreclosure.  Something definitely stinks about all this.  I'm thinking that symbolman figures he can't make any money (not that he was making any anyway) off his crap flash videos without Bush in office and this is his last gasp at fleecing the DUmmies.

WHAT happened to the money that people spent on his Retard Lotto Experience?

More than likely, it's gone up a wild hog's a$$. ....and they ain't get'n it back.

I would suppose that given the background facts you state, the money went into an unsuccessful run for some political office.  The amount is about right for a failed primary bid for a Congressional seat, or a failed general election run for State legislative office or one of the key County or top large City positions.  In the DUmmie mind, his failed attempt to further his own personal fortunes translates fairly easily into "Fighting the evil 'Pukes."

If he ran for office we would have seen it all over the DUmp.

The way I think he came up with the 200K number is that he took all the time he did working on childish flash animations, going to video congressional hearings in broom closets and working on his Take Back the Media website then multiplied it by some inflated amount that he thinks his time is worth.

ScubaGuy, you could well be correct had the run been in the last couple of election cycles, but I have a feeling it is well in the past, perhaps as far back as the late 90s.  Since the DUmmie is very vague about the loss and its timing, this leads me to believe he cannot tie it to Democrat successes or even activities in the past two election cycles in any positive way.  Too, some DUmmies have enough of a sense of political self-preservation to avoid the possibility of connecting their public personas to freak farms like DU, hard as that may be to understand based on their normal lizard-brain level of abstraction.   Not so far in the past that cascading financial failures from it did not ultimately lead to the sale/loss of the house at issue, though.

100. nothing to do with taxes
has to do with them wanting $35 thousand dollars TODAY (Yesterday), telling us that if we paid the next three months mortgage without fail, that they'd do a workout, sort of refinance, and we'd be fine, back in the saddle, and they told us not to WORRY, there was no action as far as auctioning the property off, they were going to send papers.

a Lie. they never did, think "Bait and Switch", think my wife, a realtor who's versed in this, lawyers hanging up, while some prick said that we couldn't talk to his supervisor and "Is there anything Else I can HELP you with.." WHILE the auction is going on at that MOMENT.

They NEVER notified us of the auction, they LIED. It was a sleazy scam and now we're SCREWED.

And it has nothing to do with Taxes in the least.

SOrry, I can't go on about it..

But I would like to THANK everyone for their generosity, you're all in our hearts.

I'm broken, can't even keep going here, sorry. But still grateful for my friends trying to get me beyond at least this much of the HUGE hump.

Gotta go lay down, haven't sleep, may not for a while.

Love to all, can't get over this sleazy rip off by these asshats.... sorry.. can't maintain right now.

121. I've got to post this, it's becoming more apparent that GMAC SCAMMMED US
and we may not be the only ones. They stole our home under the guise of Foreclosure. There are others that are noticing this trend, and we are going to follow it. I believe that what they did was ILLEGAL and they did it with FULL Knowledge, and it took MANY in their Organization, INCLUDING LAWYERS to pull it off.

We are going to go after them, they are shysters, and WE are not the only ones they are pulled this trick on. It's SO SIMPLE, but Obvious on it's face.

I ain't going to take this sitting down, we may be able to help a LOT of people if we can blow this scam out of the water.

Meanwhile here's what Mark Crispin Miller posted on his Blog - the DU has REACH:

***********************

TWO HEROES ARE NOW HOMELESS

Micheal Stinson--a/k/a Symbolman--and Julie Sigwart, the couple behind
Take Back the Media, are now homeless. Like millions of their fellow citizens, they
lately had the hideous experience of watching as their house was auctioned off:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

Although they're not people of means (obviously), over the years they've spent at
least $200,000 on their work against the Bush regime; and that work has been
invaluable. It was they, for instance, who first interviewed Don Siegelman, on
video, about the theft of his re-election in 2002; and they've done lots more in
the same bold investigative spirit (much of it with a certain piercing humor).

So if there's any way to help them out, even if it's just by helping spread the
word, please do so. (People can now donate directly at http://www.takebackthemedia.com )

This is beginning to look familiar.  Big scary corporation taking advantage of the little guy, violations of state and federal laws (requiring a conspiracy between the courts and the big scary corporation) and a DUmmie just $10 from blowing the whole thing wide open.  Wonder when Skinner is gonna hit the brakes on this one.

Seems to me they may well have been using their home as an ATM, borrowing against the equity to finance their lifestyle. This only works in a continually rising market and not in a falling one where your sole source of income is from the sales of flash animations excoriating the BFEE.
