Biggest Gaslighting Campaign Ever: Democrats Are Out of Touch
Yesterday's Atlantic article discussing the WaPo poll from the previous week and all of its nuances.

This is the section I'm most interested in:
There is nuance to the results of the survey. A closer look at the numbers shows that while a majority of Americans believe the Democratic Party is out of touch, most Democrats do not, though that’s only by a slim majority. Democratic voters do, however, seem to have less confidence in their party—at least at the moment—than Republicans do in theirs. A higher percentage of Republican voters, at 60 percent, said that the GOP is in touch with the concerns of most people, compared with just 52 percent of Democrats who said the same of their party.
Why do we think our party is "out of touch"? At this point in the game, you would think the majority would realize we are the party most down to earth. But it is not a comparison between Democrat and republican. Instead, it is simply our party, taken on its own, fairing against our own standards.
My personal opinion is that the low numbers do not indicate we have super high (impossible) standards of our own accord. Rather, we are and have been gaslighted into believing that our party is "out of touch" by years of republican rhetoric. We hold our party to such high standards because republican rhetoric demands that we scrutinize each toothpick thin plank in our party's platform.
Meanwhile, republicans stick their fingers in their ears when we tell them they do not represent 99.9% of America.
So I beg you to stop scrutinizing your party looking for flaws and then amplifying them when you find them. There will always be flaws of some kind, but we can correct them. The important thing to remember is that we are the party of sanity. We care.
Still misusing the term "gaslighting" in order to feel superior to the rest of us, I see.

2. Simple: "The Democratic Party is the non-treason party"
The Democratic Party doesn't cheat and steal elections.
The Democratic Party doesn't rely on secret societies that have been funded by Billionaire special interests to skew and distort education, ideology and funding to benefit the .01%.
The Democratic Party believes that healthcare is a BASIC *******ED HUMAN RIGHT, and is NOT NEGOTIABLE, because this is what CIVILIZED SOCIETIES DO.
And of course, much more, a woman's right to choose, racial equality.
What does the GOP believe in? Lining the pockets of the .01%, and shoving regression and repression down everyone's throats, and keeping most people powerless so that nobody can challenge their power. The REGRESSIVE, OPRESSIVE Party.
Then, lots of posts claiming it's not their policies, it's just the messaging.
Look, assholes, there is nobody in America that doesn't know you mutts stand for punitive taxes, late term abortion, racism, cheap thuggery and comforting America's enemies.

20. Most of the American public are clueless, misinformed and subject to R-wing propaganda.
Who makes it that way? Corporate America. Even MSNBC regarded as the more liberal ''news organization" can't step over Corporate lines drawn to defend their profits.
By the way I am not buying this "survey'' I think it's full of bullshit.
Then how come Hillary couldn't buy the WH?

23. The reason some conspiracy theorists think we are 'out of touch'...
...might have something to do with the 1,000 or so legislative seats we've lost in the last several years nationwide, the loss of literally every stated (as opposed to intelligence/unstated) lever of power in the nation, the complete annihilation of 'the firewall' during the election, the fact that our sloganeers couldn't make a candidate whose ONLY weak point was her complete and total unlikability defeat a clown and started by making the fundamental mistake of campaign slogans: subservient versus campaign slogan: action (spoiler alert, action almost always wins).
It's amazing the things conspiracy theorists believe! Clearly, we all know the REAL truth. Hackers that can't be found used computers that can't be found to hack into databases that show no logs to 'influence' an election that just happened to mind control people into spontaneously turning into Nazi-sympathizing evil cretins just 8 years after they voted for a black man so they could elect the person who masterminded the ENTIRE operation, a businessman who is so incompetent he has to get a crash course on literally every topic from world leader, and we have ALL the evidence we need to prove it except no one is calling for it, showing it, mentioning it, talking about it, or using the UNIVERSAL military response that removes a literal coup.

25. Yes, mind control
You have to ask how they were able to mind control people out of voting for HRC. I mean, how the hell did they convince people to even be on the fence? "Locker room talk" versus "her emails!" The republicans are able to create slogans and disseminate them rapidly over social media and the MSM. They managed to co-opt the "deplorables" slogan seemingly within seconds. And it was nationwide, crossing socio-economic barriers. Why are we not able to do that? Why is it that the TRUTH is so difficult to disseminate? I still say that it's because they control the dialogue (should it be "monologue" at this point?) and their rhetoric has been subtly brainwashing America since the W administration.
"Why are we not able to do that?"
You were the idiots that created the deplorables slur and you're bitching you didn't get it broadcast sufficiently to your liking?
