For 9 Months, Obama has set up Dominoes. Now they begin to fall...
Advertisements [?]Edited on Thu Oct-22-09 07:58 PM by Aramchek
1) Healthcare w/ Public Option will pass in both the House and Senate

2) Climate Change Bill already passed in House gaining steam in Senate (with some Repuke support even)

3) Economy in Recovery/Job losses slowing/TARP money going to Small Businesses/Fatcats' Salaries at TARP recipients being slashed/Economic Reform legislation in the works

4) Iranians seem to be yielding to Multilateral pressure and agreeing to means of enrichment that assures no potential for Bombs

5) Karzai agreed to runoff, so at least Afghan Leadership will not be declared illegitimate/Obama will announce transition to Anti-Terrorist Strategy with some coop with Taliban

6) Guantanamo Bay will close up shop by early 2010

7) DOMA/Don't Ask Don't Tell will both be repealed in the next year's time

8) We are already out of Iraqi Urban areas, and will be almost completely out by August 2010. WAR IS OVER! (That's a Big One)

9) No European Missile Defense Shield/Unanimous UN Resolution regarding Nuclear Proliferation/Steps toward Disarmament?!?!

and these are just the Major Dominoes. There are all kinds of tangent ones that will be knocked down as these fall.

You will soon see why this President deserved the Nobel Peace Prize.
The Nobel Committee has greater foresight than its critics. Its awards are given based on a Bigger Picture.

This is Change We can believe in!!!

6. if they were random separate dominoes, that would make sense
but these are all lined up,
as each one falls it increases the chances of the next one falling.
until soon it is inevitable that they all tumble.

It just took master strategy to get the Dominoes situated where the are.

115. Wow, I have never heard that expression used correctly.
Most people use the more common.... "The proof is in the pudding". Although it makes little sense, it has become the more common version of that expression. I just found it interesting and thought that I would mention it.

9. it's funny when people prematurely speculate
I'm more referring to the negative nellies who really are progressive and who have high hopes but also see things through a warped negative prism. They are always assuming the worst about Obama and his team.

That said, until Obama works toward end game on some of these things you are talking about, the conniving opponents can out flank his chess strategy. We must hope he and his crew are really up to the task.

Right now, I agree with you that it looks like they are.

Huh?

146. Obama is being held to higher standard than any other
president. The expectations for exceptionalism are so high they seem based on myth rather than reality.

I for one am grateful and impressed with the achievements he and his staff have made so far. Obama
is working his ass off and at the very least given that it has been nine short months I think he deserves
our support and appreciation. A year to a year and a half from now criticisms may be deserved, but at
this point he's getting enough grief from the Right and doesn't deserve the same from the people that
elected him.

Oh my.

From what I can see, the dominoes are still standing tall, and are spaced so far apart if one tumbles, the rest will still stand.

I've got a feeling that something is going to happen soon that is going to "overturn the apple cart."  Don't ask me to qualify . . . yet.  It's just a feeling.

Yeah, me too, for the past several months.

This is why I don't think free medical care for all, and all these other goodies Bo and the primitives promised us, are ever going to happen.

In a twinkling of an eye, things change.

Something's going to happen--I suspect either a massive terrorist attack on this homeland of ours, or a sudden micro-second utter collapse of the financial system--and while I can't sense "when," I can sense "soon."

"Soon" of course being relative.

I don't think that the financial system will go down.  See, even though there's a lot of entities in this world of ours that would love to see the US experience an economic calamity, there's just as many--more, probably--that such an economic calamity in the US would be catastrophic for.  There's quite a lot of the latter who pay off their "unruly elements" with dollars.  If those dollars suddenly become worth the same as a roll of Charmin, their "unruly elements" get really "unruly," possibly even bringing down some of those governments.  Said governments like their power too much to go without a fight, whether that fight is military or economic.

The European Union is one of those entities that a US collapse would be absolutely devastating for.  Here in the US, there's enough gun owners to prevent total lawlessness for any long period of time.  "Across the pond," not so much.  Muslims do have guns--at least the hard-core Islamists do.  Guess what would take over as the dominant religious, poilitical, and economic system?  (Hint--the answer has five letters.)

I would suggest that if nothing like what you suggest happens it is only a matter of time that this arrogant and openly corrupt administration will get bogged down in a legal mess that will make Watergate look like jaywalking.

I know the whole OP is one big ball of stupid, but I just wanted to highlight this particular instance of stupid.  See, DUmmie, if you don't even know what the acronym stands for, perhaps you should shut your stupid mouth about TARP.  TARP funds "going to Small Businesses?"  Do you drool on yourself a lot?  Run into doors and windows?  Have trouble swallowing and remembering to breathe?

The Troubled Asset Relief Program has abso-****ing-lutely ZILCH to do with small businesses.  Period.  TARP is bullshit to begin with, and this DUmb**** thinks it benefits small business, and in the next breath rejoices that executive pay for TARP recipients is being "slashed."  Seriously, stick to counting Cheerios or something; you're a danger to yourself and others by even going out in public.

As for the rest, let's wait until you can say it happened rather than say it's "in the works," mmmk?

Job losses slowing?

By the way, their idiot version of healthcare and climate change will destroy the economy and make our standard of living drop.

We're losing around twice as many jobs as this time last year I think, slowing my foot.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.
