Chris Christie and Donald Trump are Fat.
While that statement is true, their weight is completely irrelevant to their being selfish Republican assholes. Their weight has nothing to do with their politics or lack of concern for others.

This is why using such words to describe people is worthless and should not be done. The same applies to almost all adjectives that deal with personal attributes having to do with appearance, skin color, sexual orientation or any other such thing. Being fat is meaningless when discussing a persons politics or personal philosophy regarding others.

That is why we should not use such words in broad, negative ways. They may well apply to people who are in no way like the person being criticized. In fact, they almost certainly do. Characterizing someone based on irrelevant characteristics is a poor use of language and can cause harm to others who might share those characteristics.

Chris Christie and Donald Trump are also Republicans. Now, that descriptor is meaningful to their behavior. Their weight is not in any way meaningful. Neither is their race, gender or any other attribute that might apply to others who are not Chris Christie, Donald Trump or any other Republican politician.

Being careful with the language we use, especially when we use it in negative ways, is important. Care with word choices is a mark of clear thinking and expression. It's worth thinking about any time we make public statements.
