FYI.

Reid-Angle Thursday at 6PM local

O'Donnell-Coons Wednesday at 7:30 local

The O'Donnell debate will apparently be broadcast on CNN, and can be streamed from her website.  I can't find any non-local broadcast info for reid-angle.

CNN was hyping o'donnell-coons last night.

the conventional wisdom is 100% wrong on this thing.  all she needs to do is prove that she isn't the raving nutcase (and she is not) that the MSM and the liberals are making her out to be.  strictly speaking, all she need to be is viable;  the radical ReBamaLosi agenda will take it from there.  we have seen the same pattern over and over with candidates that fell in the polls when they were smeared as extremists, only to recover when they and their views were given a fair hearing.  we saw it with paul, angle, and to a lesser degree rubio.  now we will probably see it with o'donnel and mcmahon.

O'Donnell trails Coons, a Democrat, in the polls by double digits. Hoff said the Republican will need a decisive victory in the debate this week to close that gap.

"I think Ms. O'Donnell will need a knock out punch to bring the polls back even. And I mean a serious gaffe by Mr. Coons or something she says to resonate with the voters," Hoff said.

the liberals and the MSM think they got her, and all they really need is an excuse.  personally, I didn't think it was a "gotcha" moment.

but CNN kept cutting to the chile thing.  I am happy and thankful that the chilean miners are all safe.  honestly, I am.  but I think wall-to-wall coverage on all of the cable news channels was, um, a bit much.  I would have rather seen o'donnell-coons uninterrupted than miners numbers 29-33.  the last four went pretty much like the first 29.

O’Donnell’s Palin Moment?

Was it a Sarah Palin moment?

Christine O’Donnell, the Republican Senate candidate in Delaware, stumbled during the debate tonight when asked for a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision that she disagreed with.

“I know that there are a lot,” she said. But she couldn’t come up with one, evoking memories of Katie Couric’s 2008 interview with Ms. Palin when she could not identify newspapers or magazines that she read.

“I will put it up on our Web site,” O’Donnell promised.

CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer suggested Roe v. Wade, the case which legalized abortion as a possibility.

“She said recent,” Ms. O’Donnell said, but then seized on the case to rescue her from the awkward moment, noting that overturning Roe v. Wade would not make abortion illegal but would give the issue back to the states.

Clearly thinking about court decisions, Ms. O’Donnell then added that “there are several when it comes to pornography. Federal court decisions to give terrorists Miranda rights.”

Given the same opportunity to name a case he disagreed with, Chris Coons, the Democratic candidate, quickly cited the Citizens United case which legalized political spending by corporations.

“The free speech rights of corporations, I don’t think deserve the free speech rights of living breathing humans,” Coons said.

the more MSM coverage I read about tonight's debate, the more I get that sick to my stomach feeling that I used to get when the MSM would go on their witch hunt for sarah palin.  I have seen this play before;  I know how it ends.

oops.  coons had a moment of unintentional honesty.  if "inexperience" was a reliable argument, the current resident of the white house would still be in chicago registering dead people to vote.

Quote
Coons, who at times simply threw up his hands in frustration, eventually fired back that his opponent, whose career has been largely as a perennial candidate and spokeswoman for conservative causes, does not have the experience needed to be a U.S. senator.

"Ms. O'Donnell has experience running for office but not really running anything," he said. "I'm not anyone's pet. I'm going to be a bulldog for Delaware."

I believe the angle-dickhead debate can be streamed online here.

6PM local.  I believe that's 9PM eastern.

they are only allowing 12 viewers into the studio per candidate due to "security concerns" and "past incidents".  translation:  these guys really, REALLY, REALLY dislike each other.

  • Oh snap!
I'm watching the Angle-Reid debate right now.

Angle started off really nervous, but she seems to be warming up.  Reid points too much and it's really freaking annoying.

It's because of the fight that broke out (by a Reid supporter egging on an Angle supporter) during their last "debate" where Reid VIDEO TAPED his speech.  Angle actually showed up in person.

Good grief.

Is anyone watching this debate?

Every time a YES OR NO question is asked, Angle answers with one word response.  Reid goes into detail, instead of simply answering yes or no.  I've seen him do this TWICE now.  WTF?

rasmussen has detected an 8 point bounce for o'donnell since the debate.  they are comparing different polls to arrive at the 8 point bounce, but she is definitely getting traction from her debate appearance.

and, I if I may point out, against castle, her numbers started changing very late, but when they did start to move, her gain was dramatic.

O'Donnell Gains 8 Says Rasmussen; Hannity Appearance Helps

A brand new post-debate Rasmussen poll has Christine O'Donnell trailing Democrat Chris Coons by only 11-points, 51%-40%, picking up eight from the pre-debate Monmouth University poll that had her trailing by 19 points, 57%-38%.

The Rasmussen poll is a startling development in a race that has taken an unusual twist in the last 48 hours. It puts Coons perilously close to sinking under the 50% margin. O'Donnell won 150,000 votes in a 2008 Senate bid against then-Senator Joe Biden when Biden was also running for vice president, which in today's climate could be enough to win.

in that debate, angle nailed reid for being worth millions and millions of dollars while on a senator's salary all these years.  he responded that he had been a very successful defense attorney earlier in his career.  (I guess the only time "successful defense attorney" sounds good is when you are accused of being a corrupt senator, but that is a different conversation).

that made me curious, and I just got around to checking.  here is doddering harry's career timeline from his very own nauseating campaign website.  when did he have time to develop a private practice?  he was virtually born in government at some level or another:

1964 – Reid graduates from law school and moves back to Nevada to raise his family.

1968 – Reid wins election to the Nevada State Assembly at the age of 28. He introduces the first air pollution legislation in Nevada history and fights to protect consumer rights.

1970 – Reid becomes the youngest Lt. Governor in Nevada history, winning election at age 30 as Governor Mike O'Callaghan’s running mate.

1977 – Reid is appointed Chairman of the Nevada Gaming Commission, where for five years he makes headlines with his legendary fight to clean up Nevada’s gaming industry, despite repeated death threats from the mob.

1982 – Reid wins first of two terms in the U.S. House of Representatives where he championed the taxpayer bill of rights and legislation to protect Nevada’s wilderness.

1986 – Reid is elected to the U.S. Senate.

It doesn't seem like his professional career left much time to make his millions. I wonder how he got so rich.

I think Sharron hit the nail on the head;  corruption.  he is so damn crooked that when he dies, they are going to have to screw his corpse into the ground.  or at least, using the axelrod/gibbs burden of proof for the chamber of commerce, he should have to prove to us that he is NOT corrupt as hell.  guilty until proven innocent!

when you declare war on the wealthy, and it turns out you are wealthy, the next thing that needs to be examined is how many exceptions and carve outs you created for yourself over the years in legislation that you forced on everyone else in the country.  and the man has been in congress for 30 years.  that's a lot of investigating.

I hope Sharron wipes the floor with Harry's head as her mop
