That is, of course, the professed urgency in "getting it done, for the sake of the chill-run".
I remember well the government shutdowns in December/January 1995/96. As far as I could tell, the fate of the free world wasn't really at stake, and it certainly didn't burn to the ground over those 26 days total that the shutdowns were in effect. Nope. We all survived that. And yet the GOP gets served a big ol' shit sandwich every time a shutdown looms.
What these asshats in Congress haven't quite figured out is that the CR itself perpetuates these "crises."
