1):  The yearbook-photography clique... which was also the strategic class-skipper clique.

2):  Any National Park in the 60's era.

(1) Which clique did you hang out with in high school?

My interests crossed a lot of different cliques, from playing football and running cross country with the "jocks", to messing with computers and playing D&D with the nerds/geeks.

(2) What do you consider your ideal paradise?

Paradise is the deck of a sailboat in the middle of blue water with not another human soul visible from horizon to horizon.

1) I was a chameleon. Was in the top 10% of my class, the editor of my school paper, but was also an athlete. So I mingled with lots of different groups.

2) Greg Gutfeld's basement? (kidding, I'm guessing he said that yesterday). Aruba is nice, as are some of the other Caribbean islands. Perhaps a beach in Italy or France.

When has THAT ever been a reality? I know my honey-do list grows even as I'm whittling items off of it. Cut off one head, two more pop up.

It happens - rarely - but it happens. Right now, for instance. Nothing on the Honey-Do list, but I have a few things on the Homey-Do list.  :whistling:

1: Closest thing to a "clique" I was involed with was my friend group and the original Dungeons & Dragons (original boxed set with the 3 small books).

2: Any gaming, comic book or sci fi convention.

Yes I am a nerd and damned proud of it.

Finally getting back into this thread!  Blush!

Thanks for your comments. Quite interesting & amusing all.

As for me, other than dancing my heart out to rock music,   :yahoo: I loved high school & all my friends ...

I attended what in Canada,  was known  as classes for "A" students.  I loved Latin, French, French authors, English grammar, English Lit, Greek & Roman history, etc. ...

Everything except math, which I detested, & passed  mainly on being able to state word for word the theorem defintions only , not on the applications of such useless stuff!   :-).

ETA ,,,  Reading & discussing Shakespeare, and also playing basketball, shooting free-throws when needed, and gymnastics.

Oops!  Forgot my "ideal paradise".

Wearing gauze-y clothing, a floppy straw hat, and thong sandals ...

While sitting on a lounge chair poolside, reading my book, being served Margaritas while on a Carribean Cruise!

Then dancing while in port at night to steel drums!

LATEST QUESTIONS TO "THE FIVE ON FRIDAY EMAILS"  7/29

(1) What was your longest plane trip?
(2)And was it worth it?

Single flight - San Diego to Indianapolis for GenCon. It was worth it.

Multiple flights - C-141 from an island in the Gulf of Aden to Clark AFB by way of Diego Garcia. Then I transfered to a Flying Tigers 747 from Clark AFB to Travis AFB by way of Okinawa (saw the SR-71 takeoff there) and Anchorage Alaska (heard the news about the F-14s shooting down the 2 Libyan MiG-27s in the Med there) and yes that was worth it as well (transferring from USS Belleau Wood (LHA-3) to the Anti Submarine Warfare Operation Center (ASWOC) at NAS North Island at Coronado Ca.

I absolutely detest flying even short ones on planes!

And this is why I refuse to fly anywhere anymore. The Mask Morons, the TSA Gropers, and the Carryon Crawlers pretty much negate any patience I USED to to have when flying. I last flew, regardless of airlines, back in 2018 and I swore I'd never fly again.

Details, details, please ...  :-)

Unless it was for an unpleasant reason.

Had to hurry-up and wade-into White Iron Lake, in 'canoe country' and attract leeches on my shins and ankles in order to nail some trophy-size pike & walleye (leeches dis-attach pretty effortlessly with vinegar & salt, or a lighter), then get involved in an enthusiastic intrigue over an intelligent black-bear destroying our neighbors' campsite, who then kept escaping from Minnesota Fish & Game 'traps'.  Subsequently joined my uncle on a speedboat-search of the lake to locate our neighbors.  Eventually was standing beside a bee-hive at the base of a pint-tree and YEEOWWW...

Drove to the end of The Gunflint Trail and portaged to the Indian rock-carvings around the Basswood lakes.  Camped and fished at Devil's Track Lake where float-planes were going crazy, then wrapped the trip up by driving along the shoreline of Lake Superior picking-up gemstones.  Drove to Detroit and flew back to Houston in time to help build a motorcycle-ramp.

Tons of other stuff happened but yeah, it wasn't unpleasant.

It wasn't too bad. The C-141 was noisy as hell but bearable with ear muffs they had for hearing protection. I did get a night at Diego Garcia before the flight to Clark AFB in the Phillipines, which was on a C-5 Galaxy, not a C-141 (my bad). The C-5 was the worst out of the 3 as there were no windows to look out of in the passenger compartment. The 747 flight was the best as it was pretty much a commercial flight charter, complete with meal service and drinks. I managed to get a seat that had the row of seats in front of me removed for an emergency exit so lots of leg room.  :II:

(1) What was your longest plane trip?

Having lived all up and down the Central Time Zone for my entire life, I've never taken a flight longer than 4 hours. Yet I've been all over the great U.S.A. via airplane other than the Pacific Northwest and far Northeast.

(2) What do you consider your ideal paradise?

I really didn't hang out with a clique in HS. I lived a block away from the school so I would go home when ever I got bored.
Always made first period, was advanced guitar, took that all 3 years. The only other classes I was interested in were math and chemistry.
I still graduated on honor roll.

I live in my paradise. I have a loving wife, great daughter and cute grandkids. Two dogs that follow me where ever I go and rivers that hold trout that take flys near by.

I was an oddball in HS.  I was a band nerd or sorts, but hung with the metal-head crowd, long hair and all...  yea I know, a strange mix.

Paradise to me is simple, uncomplicated and serene.  I'd want to live free of financial worry in the mountains of North Carolina, away from people, and close to pristine fishing and plenty of available trails for dirt bikes and SxS off-road fun. I honestly don't think I would ever get bored being at peace with nature and a controlled absence of people.

(1) What was your longest plane trip?

A mixed commercial and multiple charter to Yellowknife NT (Canada) for a fishing trip. It took almost 2 1/2 days to get there, with some short idle time in in between either fighting with Canadian customs and immigration (they are real jackasses), or resting while waiting for the next charter to bother showing up. Then we had to go through the same getting back.  We've done others up there that were far more remote, but didn't' take nearly as long.

(2)And was it worth it?

Totally.
