Title: Greetings from Taxachusetts
Post by: NRAInstructor on July 31, 2021, 08:07:05 AM
Hello all.

My name is Brian. I live in Massachusetts, and I am VERY red dot living in a very blue state.

I quit social media last year (zero regrets) after I posted on facebook "Trump won the election, Biden won the installation" and got Zucked for 30 days for that comment.  That was the straw that broke the camel's back.  It feels great to be out from under the thumb of oppression of social media, but I feel very disconnected from my fellow conservatives now.

Tried a few other message boards and received a "less than warm" welcome.  Immediately got accused of being a banned member returned in disguise, an FBI agent, etc.

I am not expecting everyone to come rushing up to me with tears in their eyes and open arms, and I understand that I probably have to earn everyone's trust and that will take time (and I'm willing to put in the work), but I am here for civil discussion, not hazing or other initiation rituals by means of abuse.

Living in Mass sucks enough energy out of me.  I'm here looking to escape that, not add to it.

Thank you for having me!

Howdy, and welcome. We’re a pretty tight knit group here, but very easy to get to know.

I left Facebook a year ago January and have zero regrets, other than some good pictures I had stored there and lost. It was worth the loss.

Welcome!  Still remember the days when I first started inhabiting a few conservative message boards damn near 2 decades ago.

As Texacon said, we are a mostly friendly group of like-minded folks.  Occasional disagreements are common, but unlike perpetually butt-hurt liberals, we get over it.

And as we used to say, newbies have to bring the beer.  Or pie. :cheersmate:

Yeah, I'm another Fakebook refugee -- been about 8-9 months for me since I told Zuckerbooger to piss up a rope. Never did Twatter, so there's nothing to report there.

KC's correct in saying we're tight-knit group, also kinda small from even a few years ago when Fakebook just sorta spirited people away. That's OK too. I don't have a burning desire to post a photo every time I take a dump and report on it. When I told Zuckerbooger to pound sand, that seemed to be pretty much all there was going on Fakebook. That, and goofy memes.

Ditto.  Never bought into Twitter.  I tried really, really hard to get into Parler but it just doesn't feel right.  Maybe I'm following the wrong people, but nobody ever replies to me, and it's hard to find people I know.

GETTR seems cool, but.... I dunno.  Looks like it has a long way to go.

I'm perfectly happy on a close-knit message board like the good old days.

Guess I didn't realize you left Facebook, think we probably were friends there.  Shows you how little attention I pay to it.

In more than a decade there, still have not made a single post about politics.  That's what I use the Cave and originally CU to vent.

Welcome!

I like your dog. I have a GSD also, she is a great fishing partner.

Thank you!  She's getting on in years, but I still love her to death.  I also bred her when she was 4, and kept one of the puppies from that litter, so I have her daughter as well (who is equally beautiful), as well as a 9 month old Siberian Husky female that runs the damn house.
