Are you making this now?
Can I come over? :-)
I do the same thing with brats, onion, and red potatoes.
An old Polish recipe...
1 can of beer
1 14oz can of sauerkraut drained
2 pounds kielbasa (smoked sausage also works)
Cut the sausage into 1" pieces. Dump everything into a crock pot, and cook on low for about 4-5 hours.
Done! (http://www.conservativecave.com/Smileys/default/happy.gif)
Hav'nt had this in years. What do you serve with it ?
We don't serve anything with it, it's a one-dish meal....meat and vegetable.
An old Polish recipe...
12 cans of beer
1 14oz can of sauerkraut drained
2 pounds kielbasa (smoked sausage also works)
Cut the sausage into 1" pieces. Dump everything and one can of beer into a crock pot, and cook on low for about 4-5 hours while drinking the other 11 beers!

Do you mean in addition to the sauerkraut and beer?
Sounds delicious
Yup. I just "layer" it. Brats, taters, onion, kraut, and then pour the beer in. The sauerkraut gets sweet when done.

I tried this and it turned out great. Thanks again. :cheersmate:
Hmmm.... was going after a pork shoulder to start fixing tonight for pulled pork barbeque.
Don't know what I was thinking! It's New Year's Day ( I have been so confused on my days for the last 10 :thatsright: )
Will be fixing spareribs cooked hours with sauerkraut. Then fix mashed potatoes and cooked apples (I hate applesauce) to go with. Perfect food to go with football!
Never been fond of sauerkraut right out of a jar. I like to put a few juniper berries in there, along with a bay leaf or two, and oh yeah, BACON. :-)
Oh-oh, I hate to tell you but it's New Year's Eve today. :-)
Happy New Year to all.
