Now the TSA can force you to go through the body scanner
« on: December 23, 2015, 07:35:36 PM »

"TSA is updating the AIT PIA to reflect a change to the operating protocol regarding the ability of individuals to opt opt-out of AIT screening in favor of physical screening," the DHS writes. "While passengers may generally decline AIT screening in favor of physical screening, TSA may direct mandatory AIT screening for some passengers.".

Some info on TSA scanners:

Quote
But in 2013, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) replaced backscatter scanners with new-and-improved scanners, called millimeter wave screeners. Today, these scanners are in 160 airports across the country.

They fixed the “see you naked” issue. These devices create a standard outline of a person, rather than a detailed image of the person’s body. They’re also an improvement for your health. The millimeter wave scanners use low power radio frequency waves, not ionizing radiation, to create the image. The frequency falls between microwaves and infrared radiation, the same frequency used for Wi-Fi devices. If you stood for three seconds in a scanner, it would be no more radiation exposure than standing in front of your computer router at home. In fact, the dose is actually a lot less.

If you don't want to go through the scanners, then don't fly.

Thundley, couldn't agree more.

Used to be a time when flying was mildly pleasant. Sort of a little adventure.

Not any more. The TSA Nazis are partially responsible for taking a pleasurable experience and creating enough annoyance, irritation, and shit to avoid flying.

So I do, when I can.

The new scanners are better.  They make what looks like a paper doll with yellow squares where they detect irregularities.

But I don't end up with them very often since I have NEXUS/Global Entry and thus 100% TSA Pre-check.

Yeah, if your travel via air occurs often enough to warrant it. In my case (so far), it doesn't.

I just strip naked when I enter the terminal.

DoD 100% Precheck for me.

Congratulations. I'm retired military and thus am not eligible for that program.

The TSA and Homeland security are about the most worthless government entities ever conceived.
I don't "protest too much" as Shakespeare would say though.
It gives me that much more job security.
So in my little selfish heart inside my gracious conservative heart, I hope the TSA keeps sticking it to the traveling public.

That's not entirely true.  If you work for the DoD as a civilian, then you are eligible.

Better yet, you can fill out the application and pay $85 for a 5 year precheck.

Well there's the rub. I'm not a DoD civilian and I refuse to plunk $85 (or any amount) for the "privilege" of unharassed travel.

I'll say it again -- **** the TSA, and **** GWB for signing that shit into law.

That's an honest statement.

Worthless indeed.

TSA's own "tests" on themselves reveal a complete failure to locate 95% of pre-planted guns and bombs. And we pay $7 billion a year on that complete waste of time, energy, space, and employment. I'd rather see that money go to support homeless veterans than to see the outrage of those shitheels in airports. Take a look at their ****ing uniforms -- Nazi-looking jackoffs.

Give security back to the Airlines, and let them profile, and take away any ability for anyone to file lawsuits based on profiling or alleged profiling.
