Jussie Smollett has been found guilty on 5 charges in his alleged hate crime hoax trial.
The jury finds Smollett guilty on the first five counts and not guilty on last one.
The 39-year-old "Empire" alum was charged with six counts of disorderly conduct related to false statements to Chicago police officers in regard to a 2019 hate crime against himself. In 2019, he claimed that two men attacked him due to his skin color and sexual orientation.

I was getting concerned. The case was open and shut. Don't know why it took the jury so long.
Still Justice my be slow by my timing, but it came through. Common sense means this country is not lost yet.

If I understood the timing correctly, the verdict was announced about a day after the case was given to the jury. It takes time to fill out paperwork, have dinner, take roll, have lunch, and vote.

Jussie Smollett’s legal woes are far from over.
On Friday, the director of public affairs for the City of Chicago confirmed to Fox News that it intends to continue pursuing its lawsuit against the fallen actor.
On Thursday, the former "Empire" star was found guilty on 5 out of 6 charges at his hate crime hoax trial.
"The City filed a civil lawsuit against Jussie Smollett to recover costs incurred by the Chicago Police Department investigating what the City believed to be Smollett's false police reports that he was a victim of a hate crime," read the statement. "While using a different standard of proof, the jury's finding of guilt convicting Jussie Smollett of criminal charges stemming from the incident confirms that the City was correct in bringing its civil lawsuit."
The City of Chicago is suing Jussie Smollett.

Smollett is not a first offender. Apparently he pleaded no contest of a charge of lying to the cops in California a few years ago. Sensing a pattern here, anyone?
His cavalier disrespect for the court by committing perjury ON THE STAND should weigh heavily to the judge. Jail time should be imposed, but the author believes jail time (each charge carries a maximum sentence of 3 years) is not in the cards -- or at least he writes not to bank on him going off to the Graybar Motel <snort -- I don't care who y'are, that right there is funny>.
If he does go off to prison, even for a few months, he'll become somebody's bitch -- and probably love it.

Smollett’s punishment will be meted out by Judge James Linn, who presided over Smollett’s eight-day trial in November and December 2021 when the actor was found guilty on five counts of disorderly conduct — a low level felony charge in Illinois that carries a maximum of three years in prison.

That's probably the end result. That DA Kim Foxx has probably twisted enough arms to get Juicy a slap on the wrist. Just happened to read about the upcoming verdict sometime today and figured I'd reboot this thread. The whole story is so implausible yet the lefties NEEDED it to be true. The leftist demand for racist hate crimes far outweighs the supply.

To their credit, the prosecutors have kept their statements short and sweet; Smollett faked a hate crime, lied to authorities and wasted their time and money, hurt real victims, and has shown no remorse.
EDIT: And after I say that, one of the prosecutors is still talking.
Maybe this is Smollett's punishment, to listen to lawyers talk in perpetuity.
EDIT 2: One of the YT commentators I'm listening to just said the defense changed her mind about the case.
She came in thinking he shouldn't get jail time, she now thinks he should. Her impression is that Smollett thinks he should be able to get away with this.
This may be a long-winded hearing, but at least there have been some gems.

Smollett didn't waste the prosecutor's time and money -- he wasted the TAXPAYER'S money. That is a crime that should be punished far and above the rest.

Hate crime hoaxer and disgraced actor Jussie Smollett has been sentenced on Thursday to 150 days in Cook County jail, 30 months of probation, pay a restitution of $120,106, and a fine of $25,000.
The actor repeatedly shouted, “I am innocent, and I am not suicidal,” as he was hauled off to jail.
“You’re just a charlatan, pretending to be a victim of a hate crime,” Judge Linn said to Smollett. “Your very name has become an adverb for ‘lying.'”
“Your performance on the witness stand can only be described as pure perjury,” the judge added. “You are now a permanently convicted felon.”
“There is nothing that I can do here today that will come close to the damage you’ve already done to your own life,” Judge Linn said before delivering the sentencing. “You turned your life upside down by your misconduct and shenanigans.”
Judge Linn added that Smollett’s “hypocrisy is astounding,” given that the actor has taken a keen interest in social justice issues for many years, yet staged a hate crime against himself, because he “really craved attention.”
“I believe that you did damage to real hate crime victims,” the judge said to Smollett.
“The officer asked you a simple question. And then you start to lie and haven’t stopped lying since,” the judge said. “You’ve been lying and lying and lying about this case, and that’s why you’re here today.”
Judge added that “This can only be described as pure perjury,” when Smollett got on the witness stand and “committed hour upon hour upon hour of pure perjury.”
Smollett arrived late to his own sentencing, with his bodyguards knocking one photographer to the ground.

I'm surprised he got jail time at all. This is Cook County, after all, Home of the Corruptocrats (including the judges).
$106,000 restitution. That is to reimburse Cook County for the money they spent investigating this turd. And another $25K fine (that's for the judge).

If there were proportionality between the crime and the sentence, I think 12-18 months, in prison, would have been more proportional. I assume wasting police time with a race-baiting false claim isn't covered by "Hate Crime" laws, but his race-baiting, which continued through the sentencing hearing, is clearly an aggravating circumstance/act.
