4. Geithner should have just nationalized the banks

I doubt the markets would have reacted any worse.

Wall Street is an ungrateful bunch who seem incapable of understanding that Obama and Geithner are refusing to nationalize the banks (which many top economists recommend) just to protect the banking sector investors from losing it all.

5. I sometimes think that the rich Republican investors and investment brokers purposely manipulate the markets just so they can get those talking points in the media to discredit President Obama's economic plans.(just for the sake of Republicanism)Then too some of these investors could be buying short and still making money.

Is Wallstreet conspiring against Obama?

I swear every time Obama speaks and explains what is necessary to fix this mess we are in, they go and lower the DOW.

Obama did a fine speech last night, explained very well what needs to be done. How does Wallstreet react? They lower the DOW by 350 points today! Its Bullshit with a capital B!

Is it payback over capping wallstreet salaries at 1/2 million?

Wtf is going on?

6. You've got to be kidding me.

Wall Street's only - I repeat, only - motivation is making money. They could give two shits about who's in charge. You know how we all complain when Wall Street jumps up after some big layoff is announced? That's because they are predicting that those layoffs will increase the profitablity of the company in the future, causing the stock price to jump, thereby increasing their (Wall Street's) profits.

Today they are making a huge, huge bet that the stimulus won't work. They may be right (I think they are) or they may be wrong, but to see an anti-Obama conspiracy in this is simply ridiculous.

OK, who's mole is the Pale Blue Dot primitive?

7. no -- they are conspiring against anything that isn't corporate welfare

It doesn't matter WHO is coming up with solutions. They will argue AGAINST *anything* that doesn't give them cash with no accountability, and no ceiling caps.

Quote from:

9. No it was idiot Geitner speaking today that moved the market

His "plan" wasn't a plan more like a collection of half thought out ideas with no specifics.

If you "tease" the street about a "plan" for a couple weeks and then pull a Geitner the market is going to tank.
Hell if I could have got an advance copy of Geitner's speech yesterday I would have sold everything and bought SPY 90 Feb Puts.

Based on the transcripts of his speech is was 100% guaranteed the market was going to tank.

Quick tip for Geitner:
1) If you don't have a plan then shut the f**** up.
2) Better to have people think you are a fool then open your mouth and remove all doubt.
3) A plan is more than a rambling collection of ideas without details.
4) For the love of God don't say "we are devising a system to price the assets" because that means "we have no friggin clue on how much this crap is worth and likely never will".

If you have nothing to say then say nothing.

Until they pass that bill I don't see any great movement "UP" for the tock market, and then It will still be up and down from day to day with no real "huge" gains for some time. Of course a gain of "any kind" will be a welcome sight.

12. At this point, I don't think anything will help.

Obama's plan could make some difference, and I applaud him for what he's trying to do. He
didn't create this mess.

Unfortunately, the Republicans designed this house of cards to fall---and it's going to fall
no matter what anyone does. Rising unemployment, massive business closings, another horrendous
housing bubble is set to pop in 2009 as ARMS reset.

It's all going to hell, and I think it's all orchestrated to fall on Obama's watch. They could
have continued to prop up the house of cards but after they realized that Obama would win--they
decided that it would all fall.

Obama gets blamed. America is angry. The neocon scumbags have a chance at clawing back into
power in 2012.

Plus, if the DOW tanks 300 or so--tomorrow they'll spend the entire day telling
us what a GREAT buying opportunity this is, and what a fabulous silver lining this
all is!

Yeah, that's the ticket.  :whatever:

Quote from:

Response to Reply #11

14. You're wrong.

Not because they're not parasites (they are), but because they are in the business of predicting the future in order to make money. If they thought this was going to work, and increase the value of stocks in the future, they would be buying right now, at the instant that they know for sure this is going to pass. They're not buying.

The parasites are speaking volumes right now, whether we like what they're saying or not.

You're speaking volumes to your fellow primitives right now, and they aren't going to listen because it doesn't fit what they want to believe.

There's no reasonable doubt that it will get through conference.

Poor primitives.  The answer is as simple as understanding that B. Hussein can fool his followers and the MSM, but the business class and investor class in this country aren't going to fall for his lies.

If I thought, as the DUmmies do, that Republicans/capitalist could move the Dow (and/or the economy) up and down at will, for the purpose of political gain, I would seriously consider joining the VRWC on that point alone. If for no other reason than to suggest, hey, lets always go up!

Now, besides government, how many enemies do we really have?
